Nathan Chen

The website main page photo is very nice, handsome and full of energy.

I don’t think so, it is a very hyped shoes - had some top world athletes/movie stars doing commercial, that’s why he showed off his the day he received it and next day Romain had his pair and I thought Nathan gave it to him haha Go get it I heard three people saying it’s super comfy.

Yes that's right :( Nathan's talented and generous fans...please
😍 with hearty eyes. Saw people posting an excerpt of the press con, hope that will surface somehow, just want to see how he mingles with others and what questions were asked.

oh ok - I don't follow shoe stuff at all, so idk. Probably Nathan can get extra free Nikes for Romain too. Yes I should order - wondering if you know if they run like other Nikes? (usually I go up 0.5 size than normal)
this thread has really diverged as I'm now asking advice for shoe sizing haha

So back to Nathan - he should have heard back from all colleges by now - Cal and Stanford gave decisions today - wondering when he will let us know where he's going :D
This one seems to size up pretty well per overall reviews so I recommend ordering what you normally would for Nike.
Have the JP reporters asked him at SOI press con, maybe he needs more time to discuss with everyone back home before coming to a decision.

Nemesis in black shirt rolled up sleeves? Please have a clip. I love this SP, it is so Nathan and again thank you Shae-lyn!

lol what - when was the last time he had a clean 4S. I'm being serious here haha

It wasn't THAT long ago. LOL He was clean at the both Olympics and Nationals. Anyways, someone else reported 4T, 3F, 3Lz, which sounds more likely.

He closed out the first half of the show, and it goes without saying that the crowd went nuts (standing ovation, etc.).

yeah - Patrick looks more modern vs classical ballet to me - it looks like he holds a lot more tension than Nathan in his upper body? I actually never thought he was balletic before lol - definitely admire his SS/one-footed skating the most.

I think Patrick’s upper body and arms are rather rigid and don’t have the fluidity and expressiveness of Nathan. I also don’t think he’s balletic or particularly dancey, but his ss itself does provide another dimension to his expression and interpretation of music, which is something all skaters can aspire to and learn from.

That’s it, I couldn’t pinpoint what is was, Patrick’s upper body doesn’t move as fluid as Nathan but he has other elements to balance it, that said, I do hope Nathan get some time to work him in the offseason.

Just rewatched Nathan's FS at Worlds. Some random observations:

- The opening 4Lz looked so good I preferred it over the planned 4Lz+3T. I checked the protocol and it was the element with the highest GOE. No surprise.

- The clapping during the step sequence didn't really work... haha. But I appreciate the audience's effort. They were hungry for some good skating!

- I always hate the half loop jump used in combinations because it looks like a step out, but somehow Nathan made it look so good and not look like a step out. I wonder why?

- When I saw him do the 5th quad, I knew that the 6th quad was coming (and I knew he had said he would only do 5.) He didn't look tired, everything was going great. And Nathan being Nathan, he had to end this with a vengeance. He could've won with a watered-down program. But a true champion must give it all. This was his Chloe Kim moment.

- To fully appreciate this program, you have to watch all the other men in this group skate. It's painful to watch, but you will get why people went crazy over him.

- After the last jump, you could hear the applause lasting almost to the end. This reminds me of Mirai Nagasu's FS at US Nationals 2018 (which I've watched 1000+ times), where it was so emotional people wouldn't stop clapping after her last jump until the end.

- To see Japanese fans enthusiastically applaud and give a standing ovation for Nathan was... wow! They gave a standing ovation for their countryman's rival. It showed that they love good skating above all else. It also reminds me that for all the negativity on this forum and elsewhere, there are many more people who like to lift each other up.

All in all, this was a memorable event that will be talked about for a long time.

I heard the Italian crowd was very supportive of not only their national skaters but everyone, giving loud cheers to will the fallen to the finish line. Jackie Wong on ice network said the energy at times was equal or better than OG. I’m glad Nathan went big and redeemed himself.

lol what - when was the last time he had a clean 4S. I'm being serious here haha

this is just some silly things that I post from time to time, please ignore:biggrin:. but, I know some other skaters will intentionally put their least fav jump in exhibitions in order to train their mentality about those jumps. e.g. Patrick's 3loop and Axel jump (Lori suggest him that), Katelyn Osmond do 3loop in ex even though 3loop is her least fav, and her 3loop in recent comp is impressive. And Mirai attempts 3A in shows too.

But like many fans who worried about Nathan's health and longevity, I hope Nathan could reduce the unnecessary attempts of any quads in EX or training.

@oatmella about 4S, not only he did a great one in OG and nationals, he also did a perfect one (effortless with flow) the day before 2018worldsFS caught on Japanese TV. when I saw that 4S, I was so happy, but in comp, he made the same usual mistakes in his 4S, I guess it is just a split second of mentality thing. I do think that Nathan's 4S take-off has improved.
