How long has backlading been in he rules?
Who instituted backlloading? ISU?
how many skaters on the senior level this past season in back loaded there programs in I mean in the ladies and gentlemen's singles competition?
because one tiny Russian ballerina back-loaded a program to an Olympic gold medal people are out of their minds?
To me backloading is fine only Alina zagitova did it to great success and we know her program is really Russian Roulette if you will because look what happened to her at the world championships in the long program once something goes wrong you can't stop it because she doesn't have the time to stop it from gong back. It takes courage to backload a program.
Will Alinka backload her program next season? Maybe not after her hat trick of falls at worlds. And shes growing too which will make backloading a tighter squeeze for her.

I took top 20 at both senior and junior worlds, and counted the jump layouts:

and now, those are skaters who went to Worlds, not just some random B skaters. Those are the top folks.
I do not see an issue with backloading. Considering juniors and seniors, and including ladies who didnt go to Worlds, we still can count the backloaded programs (0-4 in SP or 2-9 and worse in FS) on fingers without resorting to feet.
Punishing backloading is basically a sour loser thing, thats all.
Why? I don't think it disrespectful or something, lot of fans do thisit's so weird when people who don't know a skater personally use diminutives...

There’s a reason why I put ‘empty’ in scare quotes - I don’t mean a backloaded program is necessarily bad, but it does lend itself to a certain ‘emptiness’ in th first part, with the main event that ultimately gives the skater almost of the points at the end. Like I said, it can work, but I don’t know if I would like to see a big increase in backloaded programs

because some people don't like to be called with diminutives (by anyone or by not close persons only) and you don't know for sure is he/she one of such sensitive people or not.

Lots of people here call Evgenia Zhenya though... and people used to call Elena Lenok.
Is it not allowed anymore?
that's why I always say Robert Marley not Bob Marley, William Gates not Bill Gates and William Clinton not Bill Clinton. I know it is silly season but really? Dimunitives?

I mean, I understand that it would be awkward to just go up to Alina or Evgenia and call them by diminutives since we don't know them ahah but I don't think it's the same if we refer to them as such on a forum, especially because in some cases it's just a matter of brevity! If I had to write Yuzuru instead of Yuzu, Javier instead of Javi, Elizaveta instead of Liza and so on all the time I'd get arthrytis LOL

It's ok, but just feels strange sometimes 
In some cases it just might sound like someone knows a person personally, like they're relatives or close. May be it's just me though 
btw do people usually use diminutives in US/Canada when talking about someone they don't know personally? just curious

I need everyone to continue using Nastya for everyone not named Gubanova. There are so many Nastya’s but in my mind there is only one Anastasia now
So here’s what happened...I had always said it like Ana-STAY-shya but during Art on Ice the opera singer called her the amazing Ana-Stah-SEE—ya. I hear that version of her name when I read it now.
That performance is awesome if you haven’t watched it

I will take the authority to say that Ana-Stah-SEE—ya is the correct one, this how it is pronounced in Greek
. And I'll take the chance by the etymology of her name (she who rises/ of resurrection) and wish here to rise to the top for the new season.
Lol, that’s what happens when certain fans think that they a certain skaters BFF (best friend forever) and they think that no one else is allowed to use their nicknames.
. I would think that none of the fans are bosom buddies and BFF’s with the skaters.. go figure..

Well, I am impressed that it took only two girls to get the ISU change the rules (or even just one if we count only full backloading). Evgenia started the trend with doing most of the jumps in the 2nd half and Alina took it further by performing them all at the end of the programme. I think that the main reason for changing the bonus thing would be the fact that those two girls get 20+ points above everyone and they just try to make the gap between them and other top skaters smaller.

it's so weird when people who don't know a skater personally use diminutives...
i rather find it more weird to call a kid by a full name. why not to add patronymic then? maybe alena prefered to be called that way.
with all seriousness, it looks most natural to call a person who is much younger than you by her/his diminitive name, even if you met this person for a first time

It mat be I hit the wrong letter on the keyboard. I hit k instead of n. Oops I even did it in this post!
