Nathan Chen

I don't even know where this is from but Patrick Chan talking about Nathan https://twitter.com/is_the_limit/status/983555833182142465

He's sweet :sad4:
That was a CBC interview at the Olympics. I mentioned earlier that it was funny because the interviewer was clearly hoping he'd name a Canadian man to "pass the torch" to. Of course skating fans (especially Chinese fans) are not surprised he would pass the torch to his "little brother."

@colton12314 not sure how many int’l fans and some are fans of other skaters too, so may be busy in other threads. Are you new to the forum or just this thread? I’m new to the forum.

Yes love that gif of #dad and #son :)

I knew so little about men's figure skating, so I quickly went through all pages when I started to follow this thread. It was fun to experience the emotional ups and downs and all those speculations.

I bet not many of you guys have seen this one. It's from a Sun Valley '16 show where Nathan was the undercard for Gracie. He was coming off his surgery and I think was a last minute addition. Pretty sure he's performed at Sun Valley every year since 2010. He appears at 4m10s.

Sun Valley headliners should be announced soon and I wouldn't be surprised if Nathan is there again. All the skaters seem to like performing there.

I haven't seen that one before. wonder which of his old performances he watches on youtube?!

Wondering is there a lot of great Nathan stuff on the icenetwork subscription?

Hey you're reading my mind, I was fiddling with their video site last night and wonder when if it's worth getting their 2018-19 season pass and when is the pass available?

Kind soul, please help if you know :D

Thanks! I love the Sun Valley performances, at least the ones I can see on www and I have to admit his Nemesis training clip at SV is quite addictive, just love that open ice rink environment, skaters can improvise with no ISU rules and the laid-back atmosphere.

I was looking at icenetwork too, the season pass lasts until June 30th, so I guess the new season will be available after that. So, not really worth bothering with for now. Not sure if anything rare is really there though.

Many of the programs for the show are choreographed by Stephanee Grosscup who is his ex coach...this may be one of the reasons he is invited and he likes to perform there.

I see. At this point, almost all of his competitions are available outside of the network so let’s save $ and wait :)

I'm sure that's a big reason. And this would probably be the first time seeing her since winning Worlds.

Along with Rippon and the Shibutanis, this will be Chen’s first time on Long Island. The 18-year-old is also eager to attend a Yale University event for admitted students later this month after the Connecticut tour.

“I wanted to have that almost quote-unquote ‘normal life’ outside of skating,” he says.

Replying to colton: I'm Mountain time zone right now, but I travel for skating, so I may be on different times depending on how busy I am and what time zone I'm in.

Now, everything else: I reported from SV last year because I was there most of the summer (at least for Thurs-Sun). So I will be able to report back again hopefully. ;)

As “normal” as it can be. He seems to be someone who enjoys studying and curious to learn so school is definitely his forte. Maybe some Yale students will attend the show to check out his talents :)

I saw few posts from other athletes during winter, Sun Valley is beautiful all year round! Maybe it’s time for a visit :)

yep, i'm new to this forum and to watching figure skating. my extent before was watching chan during the vancouver and sochi, so this is a step up :)

Nathan said he chose that Godfather music because of Plushenko

Biellmann spin!! I think he said he couldn’t do one later because it would hurt his back and he doesn’t seem as flexible now anymore either lol

Another great baby Nathan program and lol at the description ‘but most of all he loves his new HTC widescreen smartphone’ - addicted to his phone since at least age 11

you get much less flexible as you age... nathan is still plenty flex tho now

and i still get it wrong half the time

Since Patrick is retired and his time is relevantly flexible, I am always dreaming that he can come to Nathan to help with his SS and postures, even co-coach Nathan with RAF, at least for a few months. Patrick's SS is so exquisite and his postures are always elegant and beautiful. Now because you name Nathan to "pass the torch" to, you have the responsibility to build a better Nathan. Please do it, Patrick!
