I hope so too. But I've heard rumours that right now the Chinese Fed is facing some challenges and things are a bit awry right now with the most money going to pairs and a recent structural change. They're setting up for Beijing 2022 but things aren't looking good so far. Some skaters are left without proper coaches so I doubt they're in the right state to invest in Boyang.

I wouldn't bother too much with all those rumours. Boyang's been sent to Lori Nichol for two seasons now, and his placements this season (and their own 2022 hopes), should help them see light. It might be in shambles (maybe), but I doubt it's bad enough to scrape all their preparations for their own athletes -- seems conflicting to me.
Just needs more time with choreographers for this season, at least... But ideally a lot more than that. I'm not sure how much more his current coaches can help him, though they deserve the praise for instilling his jump technique. At least, I hope he gets sent for summer training with a coach, too. Teaching him how to do jumps with more difficult entries, and making sure that he doesn't jump so close to the boards, are things that coaches can change, so hope it's appropriately addressed. I just don't know how he'd balance this and the PCS part unless he goes to a coach in Canada for the summer (or maybe he'll bring his coaches along). I'm not sure how coaching in China works, or how skaters interact with their own feds, though.
His results at worlds and how he made the most mistakes during his FS should be taken into consideration as to why a change of choreographer would benefit him. I don't know why China only ever uses the same 2-3 choreographers. Skaters are not all the same and Lori/David/etc are not a one size fits all choreographer. There's been way too many rumours spreading around in Weibo etc, that it's getting a bit alarming tbh.
I heard that the Chinese coaches are actually excellent (Yao Bin being one of the shining stars here, being able to teach the Chinese pairs how to various quads). And a lot of commentators at competitions have been saying that Boyang's 4Lz is textbook perfect (obviously) and that most of his jumping elements are perfect. I think for now they're still not at their limits when it comes to teaching him stuffs. They probably are working on the jumps and trying to rework them a little so as not to have him crash the boards over and over. Maybe he can go to Han Yan's old coach to learn more about skating skills if they won't let him go to Canada for summer lessons?
As far as I'm concerned, athletes in China are funded fully by the federations so if they go against their federation, they might get their funds cut or something like that.

I honestly think he's fine at this stage. Sure, there should be constant improvement, and I hope there is (and I bet there will be), but I also feel that Han Yan's style won't really suit him. I think he should focus on dance and transitions and performing through the steps alongside SS.

The highlighted lines are for men's. The first is the time for SP, the second an OP session, and the last for FS. It's a fairly small-scale competition. Skaters in the singles discipline have to be over 19 years old by July 1st 2017 to be qualified for senior events, hence only three competitors in the senior men's event, which means everybody is guaranteed a podium position. There is much more competition in the junior and novice divisions.

I see tian tian is participating in both Men's and the Team event which, while only a small scale competition, will probably still be super tiring. Plus he still has Ice Fantasia from 20-22... I hope he can be at his best for both though (hopefully learn something from Brian Orser), and then rest well after!!

Oh the team "competition" only means they are going to count the points earned by designated skaters' placements in their respective disciplines. He doesn't have to skate for four programs. Plus he didn't practice any quads in the op session this morning so chances are he's not going to do quads (at least not in the sp).

Unless for some reason the organisers just decided not to seat anyone on that side? Anyway if it was just for the fans it makes tian tian even more of a precious bean.

On a related note, some fans thought he might have caught a cold. It's not uncommon given the time skaters spend on an ice rink, but I hope it won't bother him by the time of the ice show.
