Nathan Chen

OMG, Nathan is sooooo much better at dancing than Adam

No wonder they asked Nathan to do the ice dance, maybe he indeed is the only one who can get the choreo in a couple of days.

Actually, there isn't really a comparison there, they all move in their own ways and one isn't better than that other. You also have to remember that Adam has been on a whirlwind of media appearances and now training for DWTS since the OG and hasn't had much time to skate/train. Adam is also in the middle of the group of choreography with Nathan on one side and Jason on the other, that makes it really awkward to move.

IMO if I had to pick a guy that's doing the choreo justice, it's Zach. :dance3:

Is my post about Adam like this allowed (my honest opinion tho), get a little scared immediately after I post that:biggrin:

maybe I should stick to light stroking still.

Rewatching the YT walmart video sheetz shared, seeing the moms chatting FS with him and the lil girl being shy in front of him, how they were trying to inform others in the club to see him and his nice reaction to her upcoming competition.

I saw that post. I thought of you, shine. But I'm not entirely sure it's such a compliment for Nathan to be thought of as a dancer first, because this is figure skating. I know what I find aesthetic to watch, but whether other people will value what I do? *shrug* I'm glad that Bittybug did address his mastery of the blades before even discussing his skating at the show, so Bittybug values his blades skills independent of how well he moves above the ankles.

Oh of course, they are skaters first and foremost. But while they are all skaters, only a very few of them I would consider dancers. So yeah, for me calling a skater a dancer is probably the highest form of compliment :) The best skaters are really dancers on the ice, with the added mastery of the blade. Also at this point Nathan still does need to work on his ss, so if he reads it maybe it can serve as a reminder to him ;)

I would agree. There are very few that are true "dancers on ice" when it comes to singles.

the comment about Nathan in the other forum. also mentioned, "using his whole body"
In figure skating there is also an concept of "whole body skating".
that is blade work is not isolated from upper body. torso stability will not restrict arm movement, in other words. arm movement is not isolated etc.
Skating like a dancer is the highest complement to a skater.but it is still has to be based on blade work, which is different from stand on ice and dance.

EDIT: I bet all those choreographers who have worked with Nathan on group numbers knew who is the fast and best at getting choreos;)

Yes, this is a thing, but it depends on if the choreographer makes the particular routine to compliment that or not. There is choreography that wants "partial body choreo".

Nathan does seem to pick up choreo really quickly!

Is it crazy I’m considering driving from CA to Sun Valley to see the show? lol

Wondering if anyone knows if there’s a meet and greet? :D

Yes. There should be one with him after the show, but I'm pretty sure you have to pay extra. ;)

I think he may have missed out on some of the normal HS stuff
Like that ... lol

i think nathan is well adjusted enough. what really threw me was on one of the yt usfs channel where they asked ppl for their celebrity crushes. nathan was like emma watson.. and vincent was like nobody because i don't keep up with this/celebs.
and i'm like okkkkkkkkk vincent comeon
so relatively i think hes fine

Hip grinding is a normal HS thing? OMG I feel so much older than I actually am. ;)

now i'm trying to figure out what the criteria is for a photo where nathan smiles with teeth vs smizing. his smile is so much more radiant than his smize tbh

Marveling at the fs post - “what incredible command he has over his entire body.“ so much joy when non fans see what we see, this is the reason why Nathan is evolving the sport by pushing the technical boundaries while growing the mastery of performing arts in dance and music.

+1 HS dances/parties have hip grinds.
