Nathan Chen

maybe it is No and No for now.

but if Nathan is gonna become the GOAT in figure skating history like most of his true fans here hoped for him in the future.

then it will become Yes and Yes  when that day comes.

EDIT: add this for the sake of PC:biggrin:, one small fan can dream. and all this is just a one small fan's wishful thinking.
It was a post-Olympic year tour to celebrate our Olympic and Worlds teams and their achievements not just one skater.

Stars on Ice doesn't work like that. He would need his own tour like many others have in say Japan and Korea, it's not going to happen in SOI.

See, that is why you are NEEDED for this FF to keep things in balance.

Thanks!

I just got a message that people can't send me private messages because my inbox is full that because I never deleted old messages from friends who I spoke with extensively about Nathan last season. I have over 900 messages saved in my inbox. Reading then reminds of the time where I felt like I was one of the only Nathan fans on earth. Posting anything positive online was sure to get a backlash from his rivals. I felt really isolated and alone.

While having private conversation was awesome, this is far better. I love hearing lots of different perspectives about Nathan. The fan girling, his performances, and other opinions. Having tons of photos and videos shared in one spot is wonderful. And having different people with knowledge about Yale, coaches, and choreographers is also incredible.

What I'm saying is, it's not just a fan board. We have our own little community that's indispensable. And it makes it easier for newer fans to find a place to talk about Nathan and learn more about him.

So hope everyone continues to post. This is a wonderful thread that brightens my day.

I agree. I'm not going anywhere either. I've been a casual fan for a couples years hanging on twitter, but it's nice to be among fans to discuss more and have all sorts of different opinions being voiced.

Nobody has said anything wrong (or negative towards other skaters either) here, so I hope regular posters don't let other people ruin your enjoyment of the thread. I feel sad we lost so many pages and sad that a member who contributed so much felt they couldn't freely post. But I hope we can continue to all post here. It's going to be a really exciting time in the future.

i agree, for SOI show, Nathan is just one member, regardless he is the headliner or not. He will perform according to the show's planning.

but from a show order design perspective, again a little fan's humble opinion (put this disclaimer first:biggrin:), to swap these two programs' of Nathan maybe a better idea at the stage of show order design in the beginning, and it won't be harmful to other parts of the show as well and won't be that difficult to execute even for now. again just my humble opinion.

He closes the show with Nemesis. That is the highest honor given to a skater in the show, and it was placed there for good reason which was that is the program people know him for this season with the Olympics etc. This is the year where the every 4 year people go to shows, if you put Nathan in the first half of the show with Nemesis, people aren't going to come back for the rest of the show. They saw what they wanted if they were there for him. There is a science to all of this that I know from experience in the sport and doing shows. YMMV.

ETA: There were close to 6K seats sold last night, and there was a mass evacuation of people leaving the arena before the finale, many right after Nemesis. :sarcasm:

All great points, that is also the reason I think why they chose Nemesis to close the show for the OG exposure of that program (but ironically, he bombed it at OG). but I still keep my opinion, and I don't think that closing with Back from the Edge, people who bought the ticket will just leave. If I am planning the show, I will choose to close with Edge and again, an opinion from a non-pro.

EDIT: instead of evacuation right after "Nemesis", it maybe right after Nathan

Sigh:palmf:

I give up trying to give the correct explanation of why things are done in the sport and how.

I fully respect your explanation, but tbh, you can not expect your opinion or even pro-opinion be always agreed upon, right. Yourself even said YMMV.
please don't feel frustrated, please voice your opinion as you please.

I and other fans here highly value and appreciate your pro-opinion, sincerely, but I cannot guarantee I personally will agree every time.

but please do continue post your opinion and keep this FF in check:biggrin: my disagreement is really just a small fan's disagreement which really is NOT that significant.

Yes but I'm telling you how it works and you still refuse, so why try?

Why, because, I read your post (everyone of it) very carefully, I see values in it, yes I disagree or actually, just have an alternative idea. But my disagreement does not mean I do not see values in your post or your input. Instead, I value different opinions and voice regardless my own stands. This is differently from refuse, if I choose to refuse I will just complete ignore, will not read at all. I hope you can understand. Again, your input is appreciated from this little fan here.

Seriously? :con3: Wow... that's kinda rude towards the other skaters... and disruptive for the rest of the audience members... never mind that Nathan is in the finale as well, so why not stay for the last number? Weird...

I agree, that people are much more excited by Nemesis than Back from the Edge (which a causal fan will not even know about). I love both of course, but seeing Nemesis live is something special and on a different level after seeing it so often on tv this season. So it should be one of the final things the audience sees. And getting to close the show with it is quite an honor. I think obviously the pros know how to plan their show.

Yes, it is very rude.

You did great job in explaining how things work. Always learn something from your post.

Honestly, I have no idea how to persuade a uber fan doing or not doing something which she feels passionate about it. Something like parent cannot get their teenager kids doing things in the way supposed to be done from their experience but the kids insisting on their own way?????

Maybe, just maybe the best thing can do is to move on.

It's possible many people traveled from a considerable distance to attend the show so they may have wanted to leave as early as possible. Philadelphia is 2 hours away.

This show is one that many always travel for and considerable distances for some, never a mass exodus before finale in history of this location.

Yes I'm moving on. <waves> If anyone I have befriended here would like to PM me that would be ok.

Everyone be well and cheer for Nathan with all your might.

Wow people actually left right after Nemesis? That's very rude. And there's no real excuse for it either. You aren't going to save that much time by getting out early since it's the end of the show anyway. People just saw what they wanted and left, which again points to the fact that the skating order is chosen that way for a reason.

Sad to see you go Ic3Rabbit, though I agree avoid the topic don't leave the thread. We are losing everyone. :(

^^ I will still contribute, my personally life will become a bit busy in the future (I really need to study:biggrin:). The past a couple months are a relatively relaxing period of my life. thus I devoted all my spare time to Nathan and figure skating related stuff. But this level of dedication may very possibly become unmanageable in the future. I may post less. but I will still contribute for sure as much as I can, also try to post valuable content. cos I am a fan and you know I will:biggrin:
All these is just my personal life time management and has nothing to do with what happened on Nathan's FF lately, but I will miss those who left or will leave because of hurt feelings. Please give it a second thought. :ghug:
