I was excited to see his instastory and came across just a pic haha now the mood hangs low. Hope all goes well and he will get a decent recent rest, hope it doesn’t come back to bite him during next season competitions due to lack of physical rest.

Chen discussed his recent decision to attend Yale. He said he was drawn to Yale for several reasons. “Yale is a really great institution, and it’s awesome that there’s a lot of rinks around Yale,” he explained. “And my agent [Yuki Saegusa] is a Yale alumna, so that helped with the decision. The campus is beautiful. I also wanted to go East Coast. And I feel like Yale is very collaborative. From the discussions with the advisors, they seem like they just want to help me succeed. So I really liked that.”

Nathan said he skipped 8th grade

He mentioned before that he did some schoolwork during 4cc - so guessing he graduated HS in 2017

Yea, he skipped a grade, might actually be 2 grades because he turned 15 when he was a junior in HS so presumably he graduated at 16 but maybe the injury/rehab at the time prolonged it. But he skipped atleast one so he graduated earlier than usual and used that as time to prepare for Olympics before starting college.

Interesting that Nathan said he wants to go to the East Coast. I wonder why? I’ve always thought he liked the whole SoCal scene even though I did suspect he might be getting a bit bored.

I have sensed that he wanted to go East Coast from his top choices of schools - H and Y. He strikes me as someone who likes to explore and experience new things rather than settling for the same scene.

I think he also likes momofuku milk bar cookies and cereal milk

Haha, maybe! But NY is not short of ramen shops that are better than the momofuku noodle bar in my opinion. Nathan can probably come down here for his ramen fix from time to time. I don't mind putting together a list if recommendations for him Even though he'll probably be too busy to enjoy the NYC food scene.

It would be amazing to bump into him in one of those restaurants! I have no idea what I would do

Yup thought Yuki played a big role, have fun! Glad he’s taking one step at a time and see where liberal art or other subjects may guide him to where he wants to be.

Asked who his favorite celebrity was that he met at the Olympics, he said with a laugh: “Adam.”
