Nathan Chen

Maybe when TV was negotiated with USFS NBC didn't know they would end up with the Saturday night wild card game. In an Olympic year with better medal prospects in men than ladies I think they would not have shoved it onto NBCSN if they didn't have a conflict with an NFL playoff game.

I have no idea if next year's Nationals coincide with the week between NFL playoffs and the Superbowl or not, but after wild card weekend there are fewer playoff games each week. *shrugs* I just wish all the men who will perform in the gala could get a night of sleep after the free skate. I don't have the knowledge to understand why it is scheduled this way. *shrugs*

NFL conference games are on the week before Nationals and NBC made sure they don’t conflict.

Many people, plus they watch the skills competitions on Saturday.

From the big nfl crowds I know or through others I don’t think there are that many watches them, the rating is low compare to the regular games, Saturday competitions have better draw.

Haven’t football ratings been going down? At least they did last year

But I guess they haven’t gone down THAT much probably

Not sure if it’s been shared but I can’t 😍 the little pilot cannot be more adorable, love how engaging he’s always been with the characters he played.

Maybe he should be a Marvel character in his future EX haha

Yes that was he headline last season, it’s because they spread the games too thin, almost a game is on each night, overall they’re doing well. Sorry mod. THe end

:) i could watch that tiny Nathan clip over and over.

sorry, this is just my silly view, which has zero impact on nathan's plans, but... i don't really want him to play any character in galas. i like the galas he choreographs for himself, though i also want him to learn from professional choreographers how to choreograph better programs. but in competitions, yes--i want to see him play a character, to see if he's improved his acting skills. for that to happen i suspect he has to pick a layout and stick to it so that he isn't constantly re-calculating, because that takes him inward and away from projecting the character he's playing, projecting the character of the program to spectators and judges.

Here's an interesting newspaper article about Derrick Delmore, who did something very similar to what Nathan is attempting to do. Delmore grew up on the East Coast and moved to California to attend Stanford full time while maintaining a long distance relationship with his coach. His coach would fly out to California every few weeks and in between those visits he worked with a choreographer and a SS coach who were based locally.

Yuki posted on her IG story that she's also at Yale with Nathan. :) I'm glad he has her there since she's an alumni and all - and also because I'm sure she'll be an important part of helping him figure out how he can do both things.

Thanks sheetz~ You are a master of search.:agree:

@Mamamiia // What a cute boy :love:

@sherlock trollmes // :think:I think the key to this plan is Yuki.

The architecture at Yale is just gorgeous.

Hopefully Nathan will get inspired to post some more ‘artsy’ photos (including himself) in the future
 but the clock on the Gothic Yale building Nathan did posted (excluding himself:biggrin:) is really cool tho:love:

Gothic architecture+Nathan - something we didn’t know we needed

Yuki seems to have a lot of influence on him

As for Nathan's possible future non-figure skating choice, not just Rachel Flat who entered as pre-med and settled for something else (I think it is some kinda phycology she is doing graduate work with now). Nathan's own sister Janice also started as pre-med and decided to to research instead of clinical, there are lots of flexibility and diversity in Nathan's own family as well. And yes, keep all your options open,:luv17: Nathan:love: JMHO, I think a clinical doctor will suit Nathan's personality well.
