Alina Zagitova

That would be super cool, loads of skaters follow her on Instagram (Alina is not one of them so far) but I got that to mean that she is involved with figure skating reporting somehow.

Because Tatjana Flade is a ISU press attaché

Has anyone, ever, in the history of Olympic Figure Skating had a more sedate reaction to winning the Olympic Gold Medal?

Well, this skater certainly had a calm quiet reaction....

and she wasn't even officially the gold medalist at this point

I hope this video isn't going to restart the "Battle of Nagano" again - I think for the most part a cease-fire still exists.

Wow, Masaru is already a celebrity  and she is a very cute puppy, can Japan give every Alina’s fan a puppy too?

I can’t wait for the next season, there will be Masaru’s plushies rain in the arena. :yahoo:

I remember seeing this reaction live and I literally shouted at the screen "somebody hug her!" I'm glad she got the hugs and congratulations :)

I feel like she was a mixture of over the moon (for obvious reasons) and trying to reign in her joy because she knew she had just beat her friend. I've quoted her dad before and I think it's perfect for here too - "this is her character." She has a lovely character and personality, indeed! So humble!

I thought the same! Usually the skater is either in the Kiss&Cry with their coach or backstage with their coach when they realize they won. (Still remember Sarah Hughes and Robin falling on the floor!) Alina looked so alone with the doll. It was just shocking in the moment. Glad the longer video showed Kaitlyn and Satoko congratulating her :)

She has a serious amount of poise for a 15 year old!

And yet parents (and grandmothers in this case) keep falling for this line every day!

I think Grandma fell for it! Wasn't there an interview where Alina said her Grandma is not keen on her getting a dog and Alina has to first "convince" her?

She outscored Michelle. I love Tara Lipinski's reaction it was pure it was real. But I also loved Alina Zagitovas reaction after she won Gold in the Olympics she was so quiet so reserved out of respect for Zhenya and her coaches who are Alinas coaches too.

On a side note Tara look like such a baby when she won the gold medal so young. So cute though.

0:47-1:50 Alina and Tatjana Flade https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NJWjmZOrWHo

Thanks for telling us who that lady is! Happy to hear Alina has a personal angel. :)

Sorry, not sure if this is a repeat qn cos I asked something similar in anr thread (but still didn't get a good sense). At 3:04 in this video, Eteri goes over especially to pull Zhenya and pushed her into the arms of the Director General (and then they had a long chat), but Eteri didn't seem to ask Alina to specially to go to him and even when Alina went over later, it was quite short. Any insight as to what was going on? Culturally or any insider sense into the relationships?

Masaru will also save Alina during tough times in the upcoming season. She is going to have a lot of pressure on her as the reigning OC and the wonderful thing about dogs is that they really need your attention and energy. No matter what kind of day she has Masaru will be waiting for play-time, snuggles and walks at the end of it. Dogs have a way of taking you out of your own head during stressful times. :) As much as Alina will take care of Masaru, Masaru will also take care of Alina.

I think so too. And this fits with what Alina said in one of her Instagram live chats (from 30.04.2017) where she said that when she is feeling down her pets cheer her up.

Back then it was just Iriska and the two chinchillas, now they will get a big reinforcement in the cheering squad.

This is a link to the mentioned chat on YouTube (it is super long, over 55 min) midway through someone started translating what Alina was saying in the comments (no subs for this one):

Alina's response was very considerate, and mature - and I love her for that; she was trembling to contain the excitement.

But how I wish she had the luxury to have a "Tara moment". :yahoo:

I must confess.
I was so utterly in love with DQ since 2017 Nats, murdering that yt replay button like an addict. Red Ballerina's grace and increasing tempo of the program had been simply overwhelming, too good to stop watching!
I would have never EVER expected anything better from Alina last season, but the 2018 Euros came and first clean performance of BS arrived. Oh man! The drama, choreo, costume, gestures, face - they all exploded just before my eyes leaving me speechless and with goosebumps! I saw a maturity, an interpretation, I saw a Figure Skater.

Since then... Well I still like you DQ, but...:love::love:
