Nathan Chen

^^ Aww, well Cizeron is considered the best ice dance literally ever (other than Christopher Dean I guess) so that is a pretty high standard lol. But yes, if he had to emulate anyone, why not the best? It’d be so amazing if they ever worked together 😍

They’ll be doing The Ice shows together in Japan

haha poor Nathan

Like someone posted before in the sQuad thread - these guys are like the male version of the Britney song - I’m not a girl, not yet a woman ...

Though I did kinda wonder if he indulged in any wine while in Milan ;)
:laugh2::rofl::rofl2::laugh15:

the nonchalant yet really sensual vibe from Sccot, yet Nathan felt is trying a bit too much. You see Sccot rarely make an exaggerated move.
I guess, less is more applies to figure skating maturity.

aww, we can’t expect Cizeron or Scott level from Nathan yet

But certainly they have set a high standard

I don’t see Tessa-Scott as almost siblings ! - their interview with Ellen though ... Tessa guessing what is Scott’s preferred underwear - haha

^^ I know others don’t see them that way, that’s just how I view them. I can’t take them seriously as like a sexual couple, idk why, I just can’t lol. Tessa by herself yes, but Scott no, so their dynamic will always seem platonic to me. But I know that’s a minority opinion. I like them tho.

Yup... my thoughts exactly... :(

Yes, I know, not getting a second coach doesn't necessarily preclude working regularly with a specialist(s)/choreographer(s), but somehow I doubt that that's gonna happen... :/

I think he might at the most consult someone like that once, and work on his own from then on. For some reason he doesn't seem to see the value in it, or he simply doesn't enjoy that aspect of FS and won't do more than the absolute minimum...? (which would be such a shame, because he can move so beautifully and how can this not be enjoyable? :( )

Anyway, that has been my impression for quite some time, and hopefully I'm completely wrong about him.

Has he given any reason to doubt his words?

legal age to drink alcohol in Italy is 18??
guess Nathan will still be marked when he goes to the nightclub around Yale.

I’m not sure there is an actual legal drinking age in Italy - but I think you have to be 18 to purchase alcohol there. I think shots(!!) for an 18 year old would be fine.
.

Everyone fighting to go to Raf (or BOrser) while Nathan is leaving to go train with no coach. :slink:

Well kinda, through his actions...? In my mind, at least... (not saying it has to be true though, and I'd be happy to be proven wrong)

When I look at skaters like Yuzu, Shoma or Kolyada, they seem to clearly enjoy the skating part of FS a lot... and I just don't see that with Nathan... *shrug

I meant historically, has he ever said he wants to do something or work on something and then just gave up on it or not done it or only did the bare minimum related to his skating? I’m genuinely asking, I’m curious

I feel you,

but I always think that a person has such innate musicality like Nathan, skating to the music, dance on ice with the music (which he excels). flowing with the music through edge work/blade work. feel the ice.. is the best feeling ever.

And Nathan has all of that. he MUST have enjoyed those part of figure skating. Kurt Browning said that in the commentary of Chopin. he felt Nathan must be those kinda skaters that can skate on ice for 2 hours without jump but still very happy because of his musicality.

Ok, I might be totally projecting, because I hate my birthday and the attention that comes with it, but Nathan looks so uncomfortable being in the center of attention there, he seems so awkwardly fidgety with his hands, I feel so sorry for him!

introvert fans on this FF felt related like @oatmella.

When has Nathan ever done the bare minimum for anything? He has stated many times that he hates spins the most, yet we see him still experimenting with all the new spin variations during SOI.

haha yes. I’m already kinda dreading my birthday and it’s still months away !

I did say yesterday that I was way more excited about Nathan’s birthday than my own ;)

I’m loving Nathan’s new spin variations😍

aww, Nathan:luv17:

the FF is moving way too fast.
I was about to leave a 我爱你 post on page 520 but it is already past that, too late...

it is really diffult to read every post and respond in time, I has missed some.

That's the thing... I'd kill to be able to skate like that! I can do without the spins and jumps  but god, just the skating itself... it actually makes me angry, that he doesn't seem to appreciate or value his great abilities apart from jumping... yes I know, you can't expect someone to like something and make the most of it, just because they happen to be talented at it, but still... :ohwell:

I don't doubt his words at all. He's too smart not to know what he needs to work on and he's mentioned going back to doing more JR like programs as well. And he obviously just loves skating if we go by his ex programs. I'm not sure I'd consider anything he does "the absolute minimum" either? Nemesis if anything debunks that point.

It's just slightly funny to see everyone making moves to train with big coaches, already gearing up to 2022, and Nathan doing his own thing and moving away from his. I mean, seriously... He's just going to lead me to drink, that kid. I feel fans might stress over him more than he stresses over himself.
