Evgenia Medvedeva

OMG! It is Orser!!

Well, props to Zhenya for always being classy as heck especially compared to Eteri right now.

I wish her all the best now in Canada!! You rock this, Iron girl!!

Two-time silver medalist of the Olympic Games, two-time world and European champion Evgeny Medvedev officially announced his decision to work with the new coach and commented on the situation:

- First of all, I want to thank Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze and the entire coaching staff for a long, fruitful, sometimes very difficult work. For the great patience that they showed in relation to me and incredible coaching, professional endurance. These people gave me a life in figure skating and led to such high results that I can rightly be proud of.

Turning to the subject of recent events, I want to clarify the situation. I will continue to speak for the Russian Federation, staying in the school "Sambo-70", while training with the Canadian specialist Brian Orser. I do this to use new opportunities and other methods of the training process and continue to represent Russia at the highest level.

As you know, after the Olympics on March 8 I flew to Germany for medical examination. And I was strongly advised to refrain from the load, and I was forced to miss two months of full-time training.

I want to wish the further development and prosperity to Eteri Georgievna's group and once again say thank you for such a valuable 11 years of my life. I remember how I came in just a little. Yes, it was sometimes hard, but I was trained, educated, supported, when necessary - driven. I grew up in front of Eteri Georgievna. She made an invaluable contribution to the development of me not only as an athlete, but also as a person. From her I got many life lessons. I will remember them all my life. On the rink "Crystal" my childhood passed, I will remember with gratitude the time of hard but fruitful work.

Also, I wish all the children from the Eteri Georgievna group, the greatest health, patience, diligence and sports longevity, because we all now know the tremendous, seven-league steps our forward favorite sports, figure skating are moving forward.

I hope that the time will pass and everyone will understand that this was the only possible option for both of us, to continue to work honestly, "said the sportswoman.

Zhenya throwing shade hahah

YES QUEEN!!!!! I am literarily 2 days younger than Zhenya but I feel like such a prod mom rn. This is the response everyone wished for, she stayed classy and killed them with kindness. Also, Orser confirmed...I couldn't be happier rn. This will surely calm some of the russian public who were going against her, hopefully people will see how the difference in their responses reflects their characters. Eteri is going down.

What a class act! I can’t entirely tell because it’s a translation and stuff gets lost. But I do wonder if there are a couple times she’s throwing subtle shade like with the comments about sports longevity in the other children. I’m totally supportive of the shade if it is the case. Stay classy, but still stand up for yourself and show you can all dish it out just at a much more sophisticated level.

I am literally shedding tears of joy here. What a fierce and dignified girl. Evgenia, you are a star. You deserve the world.

I feel like past 6 stressful monthes erased years of my life but after Zhenya's confirmation I feel better. I hope she will prove us again next season that she's a real fighter. I will pray to see her stronger and healthy and with hunter look in her eyes again.

Thought I would post it here as well. Just super proud and happy she is staying in sport and fighting for her career as an athlete.

So now it's official I am so thrilled about it and looking forward to seeing how this partnership goes!

Also by no means, I see BOrser as an answer to all issues for Zhenya, he is no magician. But what I am happy that she SERIOUSLY WANTS TO STAY IN SPORT AND GROW AS A SKATER!!!

I didn't believe to all rumours that her doing the shows and trying herself on TV was to finish career as many sources claimed, she loves figure skating and wants to try new things, that what I admire and very happy about!

This is a massive challenge, but I believe in Zhenya and wishing her the best of luck on new journey! :cheer:

I'm so happy for her! She showed real maturity in not stooping to the same level as this grown-ass woman who should have known better than to try and drag an 18 year old into a media battle, and in doing so reinforced her commitment to continuing to grow in her career and public persona. I'm so glad that she's chosen Orser and I hope with these changes we can watch her continue to skate and take care of herself while still in the sport well into her 20s.

I do suspect if she would have won gold at the olympics that she would have retired. Go out on top after winning it all, transition to TV and other roles. And because she knew the juniors would be coming of age. But that didn’t happen and she’s not ready to give up on her dream .

She said before Olympics that she will not retire anyway.

She took the high road, thank the heavens!! Her statement is perfect, I’m so glad and proud of her!

YESSSSSS I am so happy for Zhenya, I hope she grows a lot under Brian, Tracy and the rest of the TCC team. Good luck Zhenya and thank you for being classy in your response

Bravo!!! How incredibly mature of Zhenya, she handled that very well!
Don't know what to say, I'm so happy! Brian Orser is teaching a high-profile Russian at last!!!! Maybe that opens the door for more co-operation in the future.... Javi and Yuzu always loved Zhenya, she always called him 'Papa Orser', it seems like a natural progression.
I wish the new cricketsister the very, very best of luck! :clapper:

Having said all that, I'm not turning my back on Eteri. I still think she is one unbelievable coach who can turn talent into world class. But she is a manufacurer, not a motherly figure, and sometimes that is important as her charges are very, very young. She is very effective, but old school.

I think the future was decided when Zhenya lost the Olys, sitting there, crying her eyes out, while Alina wasn't quite sure whether she was allowed to go wild and celebrate the greatest trophy in figureskating, the Olympic gold medal. That was the moment when Eteri, Daniil and Sergei scored negative points for me.
Whether Zhenya said Eteri should have left Alina in Juniors for one more year or not, I don't care. It's what I thought. Careers are very short in Team Tutberidze. It's Alina today, Trusova tomorrow, Shberbakova and Kostornaia next week. Let's face it. They are kids, they need a bit more to get on in life than quads.

And while I'm at it, I say it again: the boys were very much neglected the last season. Not good, as there is a lot of talent about as well. Erokhov is only the tip of the iceberg. But then again, lads, the door to Toronto has now opened....

Good luck to the lot of them!

She said before Olympics that she will not retire anyway.

We already know that what is said one day can be changed other day

To the rest: What's done it's done. It would be hypocritical from me posting waving smileys after my futile (but of course ratial ) doubts, but I have to take things as they are. Good luck to all involed parts and please do not destroy the past but keep the admirable work on
