People, you are completely crazy about your fanaticism !? Where I said that, Alina did not deserve gold or something bad in her address !? In this article, an exceptional statement of facts and Calm down already, Alina, for me, the same student, as all the students of the group Tutberidze. And the fact that I'm very nice to Medvedeva, it's my personal right, I'm working with this girl from childhood and you do not judge me! I think, if I now said in an interview "what a good Alina and what a bad Zhenya "You would all have a whole lot on my side Do not go crazy and do not think of what's not. And who does not like my choreography, so there are no problems, it's a personal matter! All goodness and adequacy :)))

Theres a reason kids are considered minors - they don’t have full agency in these decisions and you know that. I don’t feel the need to post every quote from Eteri and her students about food and training they’re out there easily found on the internet, but it’s obvious how these children are treated. Tough doesn’t cover it, there’s another much more apt word but I’ve already said enough, this is an Alina fan thread.

I also do not like Eteri's approach entirely. It is possible to be a tough coach and achieve results without creating an environment that, whether overtly or not, encourages unhealthy lifestyles.

There are of course, results. Alina is OGM and flourishing. She has a strong mind and will, so I believe she can persevere in the tough environment Eteri has created.

Let us not take away from Alina, though. She has natural ability and who is to say she would not have flourished similarly or even better with a different coach of similar skill? This is where we get into the chicken and egg conversation.

Ohh, God... he is just all over the border... Now starting to quarrel with the fans :eeking:

I feel you. One of Alina's VK fan pages posted wishing him a happy birthday today. I have no words.
I know that most people here don't understand Russian, so I just want to say that I don't make this stuff up. Even though it sounds unbelievable.

Just one thing makes me laugh. At the beginning, there wasn't word but story about how great evil Eteri favorized Zhenya and brave Alina won despite that. Just a week before that was still prevailing narrative throughout all internet. Now, there is a completely opposite story about how evil Eteri put her money on Alina and left Zhenya behind, didn't upgrade her program etc.

In the moment like this, when world of fans is divided, I'm finally glad for the press in my beloved country. On that rare occasion when our sport news take notice there is a sport called figure skating and that russian ladies are exceptionally good at it, they treat them equally. And equally means equally bad. Like after OG and Worlds there were some really disgusting articles, on the edge of defamation, about all three main characters, Alina, Zhenya and Eteri. Alina depicted as a kid who even doesn't know where she is (just random robot who was told what to do and nothing more, some noncritical users from the neighbouring threat would be probably glad to read that), Zhenya depicted as being jealous of Alina's victory, playing false friend, and Eteri as the queen of all evil. If they could read in czech, I would be so glad all three would read it, because that would really unite them again against the common enemy (although that's not Judean People's Front, not even the Romans)

What is wrong with him? smh...

At this point I think we should all be willing to believe just about anything....

They're having quite the tea party today in the Russian skating world. Here is a part of Alexander Zhulin's contribution via Google translate -

But it is wrong to express dissatisfaction with the fact that Tutberidze did not leave Zagitova in juniors. The coach does not choose. She has students, but their age does not play a key role. At the same time, Eteree wanted Medvedev to win at the Olympic Games. I know this from personal conversation. It would be more correct and fair. But competition can not be canceled.

I guess now we can just come right out and say it!

Note to Zhelnekov (I cannot be bothered to spell his name correctly) when you are already in a hole - stop digging.

You know who has been flawless these last few days: our Alina.

Other people's words about her incredible win count as much as a $2 dollar bill. The judges, of their own free will, no one held them hostage for that, decided to award her high scores for her incredible performances. Agree, disagree, doesn't matter. The results are in and these judges are the only ones that count for that particular outcome. Talking is cheap. Getting stuff to happen is the ultimate hard thing, and Alina did that all by giving 3 strong performances, awing judges and sports commentators alike. She won when others were also giving out top notch performances, she had to be better than the best.

It is so very rare for someone to just burst into the scene and get recognized for the incredible talent she is, doing it in the most important and coveted event of all in even rarer. But Alina is a rare talent, and she shaped that talent through hard work, making sacrifices and making smart choices. Her training team works for her, are they the people I wish to come over to my house for Sunday brunch? No, but this doesn't matter in this capacity. Being a top coach and being a super nice human are not incompatible abilities, but they sure are rare ones to find in tandem, when you look at top coaches in several sports you are hard pressed to find someone that people see as a regular teddy bear. Why? I have no idea. Wish that would change? Sure. But I'm more interested in how Alina reacts to it and deals with it, so far she seems to be thriving. I hope she continues to feel great and gets the most from her training, if this ever changes, with all her prospects, I'm sure she will make the right decision that is in her best interests with her parents input and support. Like several people have pointed out here, her Dad is a hockey coach and former player, he knows what to look out for and knows how to judge when his daughter might have had enough of something just by hearing her tell him things.

Despite the loud mouths in her training team I still believe she has a lot to gain by training with people that are pushing technical boundaries and are bringing top athletes to the forefront, previously unknown top athletes at that.

Here are a few quotes from Alina, from our very own Golden Skate Forum News, made way back in June 2017, but still relevant:

“I learned about myself that I have character. And while I was not able to cope with nerves the season before, I now with experience realize what I need to do. After (Junior) Worlds, I understood that I need to be more confident and I need to show more emotions in order to get a higher presentation score.”

“There are no limits in figure skating, and it is good that it is developing, that a new generation of skaters is coming up that is better and more technical than the one before. I am trying not to stay behind the younger ones in our group. I am watching them. If they are doing something better than me, I am trying to do it even better. We have this kind of game in practice.”

Alina is smart, prepared, kind and all I wish her is happiness and the support she needs to keep growing as an athlete and as a person.

Alina said - don't ask me about Zenja , I have no comments , this is not my situation, we are not in contact

On a more cheerful note, I don’t know which of you wonderful posters created the Alina Zagitova media Youtube channel, nut I’m subscribed and watching everything that’s uploaded. I never used to follow juniors (that’s changed this year, thanks to the feats from skaters like Trusova and Khihara) so I never saw any of her junior grand prix events. It’s wonderful seeing how Don Quixote has changed in the last year and I think her Olympics performance of Black Swan really shows improvement just from a year and a half ago. So thank you so much, dear poster!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Zhulin said that Eteri wanted Zhenya to win olympic gold more than Alina! I have known it all along and some people fought me on it. Zhulin would know for sure. Thank God this did not affect Alina in any way. She is incredible for 15. This bothers Alinas fans more than it does her or her family.

Ummm Sabina better be training at Sambo 70 with Eteri and Alina in 2 years or Alina is out! :agree: At some point Alina will make a move. But if it aint broke don't fiz it, right? And it aint broke. Best debut season ever proves that.

Yeah, basically everyone involved in Russian FS is speaking out today. Mishin, TAT, Zhulin, etc. Hell has broken loose.

Well, at least we can say that Alina has quite an... eventful first senior season. My gosh.
