Nathan Chen

I love this expression😍
Hope one day Nathan works with Marina again. It will be awesome!

Kurt Browning also mentioned Nathan does NOT remind him of anyone, he is unique when asked the same question during commentating.

but at times, Kurt Browning will point out some moves that Nathan does is similar to Patrick.

Maybe because Tarasova made some masterpieces at long years ago... I love her past works, but now a day- she is looks like old fashion to me.

Yes, very old fashioned and not at all compatible with Nathan or his style. I don’t think he ever would work with her anyway but just the suggestion reminds me of her time with Mao and I get annoyed all over again [emoji23]

She was also awful for Sasha but I’m not gonna blame that all on Tarasova, Sasha was pretty stubborn and it worked against her her whole career.

but Tarasova is some Mao Asada hardcore fans' fav choreographer.

Oh. Where it from?🤔 I always like to listen Kurt Browning’s comment about Nathan.

yes - from 2015 junior worlds - and I love that blue costume with crystal detail (the sparkle at the neck, sleeves and waist looks so pretty), and aww Nathan looked so cute with the perfectly combed side-part:

Nathan did a lounge in Last Dancer's choreo step sequence and reminded Kurt Browning Patrick's lounge. I think he is referring to that move.
I will try to find the video link for you.

Awwww Marina LOOOOOVES Nathan. Hope she'll do another program for him sometime!! I'm not the biggest fan of her ice dance programs but I really loved her classical programs for Takahito!

I don't know if I see similarity between Nathan and Patrick. Nathan is much more of a dancer to me and Patrick is just a really great skater.

Thanks a lot❣️

hmmm... This season, i saw many competitions in person both Nathan and Patrick but i never felt so. So it is interesting Kurt mention that.

I agreed. For me, they looks like quite different type of skaters.

I think the probability of Nathan going to Tarasova for choreo is like zero - lol - so I don't think we need to worry about this

Sasha ... my first memory of watching figure skating was Sasha (and Shizuka Arakawa) at 2006 Olympics

but Tarasova is some Mao Asada hardcore fans' fav choreographer.

At the time Mao was actually skating under Tarasova, that was not the case. Mao was performing terribly and there was a lot of concern that she wouldn’t even medal at Olympics training under Tarasova, she went south so fast from 2008 to 2009. Maybe feelings on her have changed among her fans since then but the general conscious at the time amongst most (fans or otherwise) was that her programs were severely lacking and did not match Mao at all.

Thanks a lot❣️

Interesting you say this - I feel this way too, though I have never seen either in person or any competition :)

I don't see them being similar - movement quality and use of upper body - I think are quite different

here, the fan fav COR last dancer.
I think Kurt Browning is only refer to that move (not saying Nathan's skating style). Patrick does that move a lot in his Lori program. I may link some.

Also, I like Marina's program for Marin Honda. kinda felt fresh, the "smile" and the way she describe it, "like the falling petals of Sakura blossom",
maybe it is because Marina is mostly a choreographer for ice dancers.

I loved her Spring Sonata SP for Marin, not so much Smile though, which was quite generic. Wish Marin stuck to her Tango, which had so much promise.

Patrick retired..:sad21:

I need to watch these programs! Does Marin have ballet background as well?

From the Dance and Lines thread - no one named any other current skaters with have seriously studied ballet

I perfer Spring Sonata too(to Smile), only posted Smile, because it seems is a more popular one among Marin's program:biggrin:

Couldn’t agree with you more, that’s the disappointing part of certain well known choreographers their vision didn’t evolve or only specific styles are their forte, limitedl in character development.

Sounds like a broken record but always enjoy Browning’s Nathan talks 💜 may they one day collaborate on a program.

you can watch Sring Sonata first then Smile, both by Marina, those lyrical sweet princessy choreo perfectly suited for Marin Honda,
he also choreoed the waiting for Marin for the OG, going for just a touch more maturity still the lyrical style Marin is best at.

And Marin scratched out his previous tango SP choreoed by J-butt, because she cannot handle the Tango yet..

Just personally, i think they are different type of Skater. Patrick’s Skating is awesome, because he has such a great SS (smooth and looks effortless ) Nathan’s skating is fantastic because of his movements completely absorbed in music.

Like Marina said, Nathan is unique, unique boy 😃
