I don't know about that.I get that she needs to focus on her current jumps for this season, but she’s probably going to need a quad or 3A to remain competitive when the juniors turn senior. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t want to train for this. She can do 5 triple jumps in a row, I imagine she has the strength for a 3A if she trained for it. From what I can see of their program they have the training technique down for preparing girls to do more advanced jumps. I could see Eteri not wanting to risk the health of her top skater but that may be to the detriment of Alina’s career. She could easily be surpassed by all three juniors from her own team by the time she is 17.
So far only Alexandra Trusova has landed quads in competition, no one has successfully landed a triple axel yet in competition.
There's a big difference between practicing them and actually landing them in competition.
Look for example at Mirai Nagasu - her triple axel in the team competition was HUGE but that was the only time she landed it cleanly in competition last season.
You would think from how well she performed it that one time that she could easily toss them off at every competition.
However - there is a reason why so few ladies have ever landed one - it is off the charts difficult.
Same thing for the quad.
With the changes to scoring system - I think falls and sloppy jumps are going to hurt the score even more.
So I would rather Alina continue to train the jumps and combos she already does and try to take advantage of the +5 GOE scoring change.
Also to see her further develop and expand all aspects of her skating.
Let's put it this way - if the three juniors all fully live up to expectations - Alina ain't gonna be the only one surpassed (ie - EVERYBODY ELSE TOO!!!!)

"Uh-uh, no way, not even" :rofl2: Just throwing a random "Clueless" quote here because...
