Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

The last few says, every time we stop to draw breath... he throws something new at us, doesn't he?

I squeaked when I READ the 4T, just imagine what the people watching did....
Well, that's Yuzu's way to say sorry for the shaky 3A in the opening

That means, he has brought back 4T in a week. Amazing! (but no surprising, hehe ) He said in the talk show of Makuhari that his rehab period would be ended during FaOI tour. Good news indeed but please take care, Yuzuru!

https://twitter.com/mikappa78/status/1002830958842613761?s=21 Waaaaa Jumped a quad in the finale. Solo performance 3A ok, 3T so. Maybe training the quad messed with it
I don't think that the 4T practice had a negative effect on his 3A. These two jumps never really interfered with each other as far as I remember (unlike 4S and 4Lo for example).

I think these 3A-stumbles had other reasons:
1. Yuzu is jumping quite close to the edge of the rink and the flimmering lightshow is really irritating. It's amazing that it worked in Makuhari so well.
2. His 3A looks really high here at FaoI. Maybe he's secretly preparing for the 4A already?
3. I might be wrong, but Yuzu looked a bit tired yesterday, no? :scratch2:

Well, it's not as if he was in the news for anything else... oh wait.

(Seriously, I'd be taking to my bed for a week, not deciding to defy gravity in public just... because)

Welp, someone has been practicing his quads... and possibly not just the Toe :slink:

No he didn’t so you didn’t miss anything :) I visited it around that time too and was already a big fan so was on the lookout. They had Torvill and Dean’s Bolero costumes, Stephane Lambiel’s zebra costume and Katarina Witt’s Carmen dress :)

Thank you!

He looked kinda tired and unenthusiastic since Mukuhari shows last week. I don't know why, I won't try to assume either but it's what I noticed.
I want to be honest: doing the same three programs fifteen times + rehearsals within six weeks... It's like listening to the same song in 24-hours loop. My enthusiasm would drop after the first 3-4 shows... :rolleye:

Apart from that Yuzu is doing really well and I'm looking forward to all shows, since he is doing something new and exciting everytime. :hap10:

Going by his solo performaces, which are getting better and better, he's still giving it 100%. --And by the fan's on-site reports.
But he may be holding himself back to prevent injury.

Well, just saying that Yuzu seeming tired is even a bit assuring, honestly. I mean, he came back after injury, proceeded to win his consecutive OGM, attented huge parades after coming home, gave interviews and then returned to the ice to practice the programs for the shows, won a huge award, got 4T back in about a week, practiced again and again and if he wouldn‘t feel tired now I‘d be seriously worried. Seriously, give this poor man some rest. He‘s human, Mr. Hanyu, after all. Even though it sometimes seems otherwise when he flies over the ice. :D

He already had the 4A, I mean 2016 he did four rotations, it would be weird for him not to get the other half by now, can a quad ruin a triple? for example, him doing 4A can messed up the 3A technique? like having more forced and high on a 3A, I dont know how that works

It‘s just an assumption but maybe constantly training the 4A could lead to him overrotating the 3A as a result. I mean, not quite getting the revolutions needed for the 4A but too much for a 3A. Does this sound logical in any way?

Yes, and we don't forget probably his asthma causes a bigger problem sometimes. He is more tired because of it...

Yep, this season was really exhausting for him. I think, Yuzu wants to give his fans something back, since he couldn't compete in all three home events (NHK, GPF and Nationals) and had to withdraw from Worlds, too. That's why he attends so many shows now, although he would need some rest and finish his rehab without disturbance.
Fingers crossed that he survives FaoI without any negative incidents.

Well, I am not surprised if 4T today was only one time thing and he will not do it tomorrow. Of course it is great if he can keep doing it in the tour but he has not started practicing other jumps either, so I hope he will maintain his own pace :)

Off topic, but I've heard that Plu-san did 3A twice in today's show, that's amazing!
