2018-2019 GP Assignments

You're right, I completely forgot Gabby was 4-6 seed. So Carolina might be the best option for SC but I really doubt there'll be no Japanese lady at SC. They have too many ladies and only 6 GP events and they can't pitch them all against each other at other GPs.

No, SC gold is cursed! Just ask Shoma, cursed to silvers ever since.
:laugh:If it's the same kind of curse as 4CC gold curse, I don't mind Yuzu only get sc silver, also 4cc silver. Because he got 2 oly golds instead, which are the ones matter the most. :yahoo: Although he himself probably still want to collect that gold in the future though.

For your price range I’d actually recommend Section 115 or 104, on the judges side. All the best stuff happens facing the judges and at least IMO, the angle isn’t particularly distracting, and you get a better view of some stuff that happens near the boards.

I am in 104 as well

He he, Shoma can lose to Boyang in case of messy performance. 4CC does ring the bell, right?;)
Obviously Boyang can beat Shoma, and he can lose to Mikhail (as he did at CoC last year), but by the law of averages Mikhail is the less dangerous opponent.

Conversely, Mikhail is better off at CoC than potentially facing Hanyu at SCI, so it’s a mutually beneficial setup.

On the GP, of course any host country hoping for another winner would go with Kolyada. But he's only going to be available for one pick outside of Russia so that may come down to the order of the draw. (There's a pretty decent chance of Vincent in China along with Boyang & three seeded athletes. Cup of China could be deep this year).
Assuming Russia preempts anybody else in the seed going to CoR, and with Nathan doing SA and France, if Mikhail doesn’t get CoC then he either has to do NHK and do back-to-back events, or do SCI, in which case Shoma does back-to-back events at CoC and NHK.

This year, the Cup of China has been cancelled by the Chinese Skating Federation due to renovations and preparations for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. The ISU has asked South Korea to host the Grand Prix event in Gangneung Ice Arena, which is located in PyeongChang and was the venue for the 2018 Winter Olympics. South Korea will respond with an answer by June 25. If it is rejected, it will either move to another country/continent (most likely Milan, Italy, the host of the 2018 World Championships) or cancel the event, which will make the qualification for the Grand Prix Final and allotments for the skaters harder.

I told myself I wouldn’t make predictions until the list of GP assignments was out. Still, my wish for the Final is:
LOL like any of this will actually happen 😂

Dance:
* Sinitsina/Katsalapov
* Chock/Bates
* Gilles/Pourier (?)
* Papadakis/ Cizeron
* Hubbell/ Donahue
* Smart/Díaz

Ladies:
*Hendrickx
*Medvedeva
*Higuchi
*Kihira
*Zagitova
* Guliakova

I hope Hendrickx will make it as well! That would be great.

From what I think now, it will be:

-Medvedeva
-Zagitova
-Higuchi
-Miyahara
-Mihara
-Sakamoto/Sotskova

Yes, I think the Japanese ladies are strong and also stabilizing. There are many Russian girls apart from the big 2 who are good, but they are either a bit unstable or might not get enough GP spots to have any chance to get there. Kihira hasn't been consistent enough. Probably I'm wrong and only 1 or 2 on this list will make it:laugh:

What I'm hoping for:

-Hendrickx
-Medvedeva
-Higuchi
-Mihara
-Tuktamysheva
-Lim/Sakamoto

This doesn't mean I don't like Miyahara or Zagitova, but the above are the ones I'd like to see there this year.

All Leona Hendrickx needs is the same type of confidence and consistency she had at Worlds. Spins and performance and rippon lutz are all fabulous. Please please please do well Leona!!!!

Yeah, seeing a South Korean skater at the Final would be awesome! I love it when skaters from other countries pop up and do well. So I’m hoping that Laurine Lecavelier can get everything working well like in early 2017.
[Miyahara is always a question mark for me because ya just don’t know what the technical panel will do. ]

I guess what I'm hoping for (staying semi-realistic) for the ladies is:

- Medvedeva
- Zagitova
- Daleman
- Higuchi
- Tsurskaya
- Mihara / Panenkova / Sakamoto

I won't predict until I see the GP assignments.

My ideal final for ladies would be:

Medvedeva
Zagitova
Higuchi
Miyahara
Sakamoto
Daleman

Which I think it's not completely unlikely... probably Daleman will be out in favor of someone else (another Japanese\Russian lady, maybe Tennell or Kostner if she competes)

I'm hoping for a sudden cancellation of the ladies' GPF because of irreconcilable differences between whom the fans wanted there and who really made it.

This would be great, and surprising:

Higuchi
Mihara
Honda
Zagitova
Tursynbaeva
Tuktamysheva

Unlikely to happen, but I'd love to see (in alphabetical order so as to not offend any skater, heh):

Daleman
Higuchi
Honda
Medvedeva
Sakamoto
Tsurskaya

Thought it was suppose to be 6/28

Mine are

- zagitova
- Miyahara
- Sakamoto
- mihara
- Honda
- Higuchi

It’s super unlikely but here are my favorites:

- Medvedeva
- Zagitova
- Honda
- Higuchi
- Sotskova
- Nagasu/Radionova/Miyahara

But it’s probably going to be:

- Medvedeva
- Zagitova
- Higuchi
- Tsurskaya
- Mihara
- Sotskova/Sakamoto/Tennell

I'd love to see

Medvedeva
Zagitova
Tuktamysheva
Sotskova
Mihara
Tennell

purely, 100%, for the entertainment factor as the fandom collectively went into meltdown, with a Russian podium sweep for added bonus and double meltdown if Zagitova/Medvedeva continue to backload as though the rule hadn't changed.
