2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

We really need this on podiums upcoming season... :drama::love:

I agree, considering that in Russian "podium" means runway. :)

So Tursynbaeva is apparently sharing a room with Trusova. I guess Eteri is testing whether quad skills are transmitted by air.

This explains why Eteri settled Diana with Alina. Dancers don't need quads anyway, but maybe she will contract gold.

Speculations about Konstantinova's beauty seems too fanatical - her body shape is far from perfect, waist and hips aren't every young woman's dream i.e. the body type is too "rectangular" so Alina in comparison with Stanislava is a Goddess. The face is pretty and has chiseled features but remember Alisa Fedechkina whose face is more nice and is example of 100% Russian type of beauty:

What? This thread has taken a slightly sexist turn ....

Joking aside, we all know that the real question about Stasya is not about the appearance.

Political choices like that one was meant to reward a school, more than a skater.

Some skaters, like Polina on this newer season, could be forced to change and fight for be the first choice on another school, for not miss a chance.
I don't see this fed give all the near future spots to Sambo's skaters.

What really annoyed me was that konstantinova got the chance to compete at both junior and Senior worlds while russia has so many othee options!
It seems kind of a waiste to give 2 possible spots go one mediocre skater...

You hit the nail on the head here...

I might be a little behind here, but can someone help me out? I was reading Alena's ask and some posts on here, so Eteri's group is in Novogorsk? Is this where they are training now, like permanently, and why? And all of them sharing rooms, so is it like a hotel and then they go home on days off?

Since the Soviet times many educational institutions have been sending their students to summer camps to so-called sport gatherings. For amateurs it's mostly a reward for competing on behalf of the institution, on the intermediate level it's a chance to focus on training for a couple of weeks, while for professional athletes like Eteri's and Mishin's it's a chance to change the scenery and relax mentally without harming the results.

That's why I really dislike TAT's hypocrisy with Gubanova and even doing choreo for her. She thrashes her publically, walks out on her performance, calls her fat etc. and now she's trying to act so friendly, a very appalling person she is.
I wonder where Fedichkina's instagram disappeared. I was thinking that she's probably the most beautiful Russian skater. I also would say that Alexandra Proklova is way up there even though she's retired.

This season I am on a mission to translate TAT's commentary, or maybe even sube some videos on youtube.
She is knowledgeable, and overall a legend, but damn that hypocrisy, fatblaming and all the other nice stuff.

Its not going to happen as long as there are other girls that can land triples.
Politics =(

The only positive thing is that *maybe* Polina and Gubanova will get a Buyanova bonus.
But then, I dunno... For example, take Radio - Buyanova clearly just left her out and put all the effort on Sotskova. I fear something like this may happen again this season.

We should be talking about Figure skating, not making comparisons between teenage girls to see who is prettier. It’s just wrong.

that's it
but some people continue make posts like this
We really need this on podiums upcoming season... :drama::love:

in this thread (2018-2019 State of Russian Ladies' Skating) and not in the "personal" skater thread and they think it's normal
SO
I think my post is OK too

Well, I‘d never have thought that I‘d defend tars but here we are: I don‘t think a lighthearted comment of a fan here and there is really a problem. Who are we kidding, the thread‘s never going to be fully objective, we all have our favourites. So as long as this isn‘t turning into a fanfest of a certain skater, a few occasional remarks are okay.

I see more and more rumors on twitter saying Tarakanova is leaving the Eteri group.

It could just be rumors ofc, but considering how things went this off season they may very well be true.

The rumor is that she left Novogorsk but the rumor isn't that she left the group.

Of course, her leaving Novogorsk could mean that she left the group but that's just speculation.

I just watched the Aerial Challenge and I feel like I have the craziest idea. Ting Cui should go to Eteri. She is really struggling in between coaches but who is there for her to go to? Orser and Raf are all booked up and so many of these other US coaches just ain't all that right now. But this girl has loads of talent and potential. She is 15 years old and has that tiny body that Eteri specializes in. I bet she and her team could really help with her jumps. And imagine her with Danil's choreography!

Everyone always says why would an American want to move thousands of miles away from their family and friends to Russia to train but why would an athlete from another country want to come to the US to train? Marin Honda is barely older than Ting and Eunsoo Lim is younger and they train in CA now. It isn't like she will live in Russia for the rest of her life. Eteri lived in the US for nearly a decade and speaks perfect English, she is familiar with Americans and could surely train one.

Imagine Eteri and co show up at US Nationals and Ting wins the senior ladies title with a quad. Then all four of them can do their syncro swimmer move in the KIC and everyone be like wuuuuuuuuut...:eeking:

Yes, from what I understand she left Novogorsk and a lot of people think that because this is very abrupt it could mean she left the group.

But Alena also mentioned an illness on her ask account?

Whatever is happening, I hope Nastya is okay and healthy.
