2018 Aerial Challenge

Two quad round! Skaters must to two quads, one after the other, at opposite ends of the ice. Bonus points if they're different (but it's not required).

Tomoki Hiwatashi

2T

redo

4T very low landing then 4T touchdown with free leg

It was. She's been landing them for months. They should've made quads the requirement instead.

I think, as it is, you are asking for an injury. It's a pure jump competition. The compulsion to win should be enough motivation for anyone who can do the top jumps to go for them.

Camden Pulkinen

4T< 2ft fall then 4T< fall

I don't think he has a redo left. He signals he won't try again.

Jordan Moeller with a fall. And another fall. 6 6 6 6 6 6 6.

Tomoki Hiwatashi with a pop. Trying again, low landings, but two 4Ts. 8 7 8 9 9 10 9.

Camden Pulkinen with a fall and another fall. 6 6 6 6 6 6 6.

Two hard falls from Camden. He is a triple axel god, I guess. Why is it always the 3A guys are the ones who have trouble with the quads?

Tomoki Hiwatashi wins!

And alongside my pining for Josh's presence I'm suddenly hit from behind by a severe case of missing Max. A lot.

I was really impressed with Alysa! Technical development is so exciting, pushing for the harder jumps makes the sport that much more interesting. Such a shame that she can't compete as a junior yet, but I'll be so interested to see what she can do at Nationals.

Great job by Tomoki too :yahoo: he's my favourite of the young American men.

On the scoring confusion with Hannah and Alysa, this tweet sheds light on it:

Remember, GOE scores for this event range from 6-10, with 6 being a fall or popped jump, and 10 being “awesomeness”

So BV did matter too, they just weren't announcing it.

Yeah... the more I see her the more I realize she could become the youngest National Champion come January.

It seems we may be headed that way. If she can sustain this pace all year long that is.

For now i hope she stays happy and healthy.

Camden Pulkinen wins the award for the highest jump.

Same here. I just want her to stay healthy and focus on improving her current skills. But she's already said she's working on all her quads. Sigh...
