Wasn't 2016 Skating America in Chicago? If so you just missed Shoma! And just to mention, when I went to Helsinki, that was about the same cost as worlds in Boston, and that Worlds was just a ~ 2 hour flight. I paid less flying to Helsinki than I have to fly to California (I'm in DC).

It was, but I was also unable to go to that one, too. I will look into the flight prices more.. thank you for the info!

Finland seems like a good choice, Worlds 2017 was held there wasn't it?
I think Shoma will be happy to be at NHK too :) and Skate Canada too, well he's already there now ;)

He chose this, and he needs it. It will be good for him. I'm happy and satisfied with the choices. Looking at the other skaters, I think Skate Canada is even easier than NHK. But I'm confident, Shoma will beat that home ice curse. If not in Hiroshima, in Saitama at the latest. Japanese fans are lucky, they will see him many times next season. Europe....on the other hand....well, there might be Lombardia.

Good luck! Sometimes it's worth it going the distance. Boston worlds was the closest but super disappointing (though I did enjoy Javi and Kolyada then). But it's like I have to fly the farthest for the performances that make me the happiest . I still love Helsinki's Loco Loco so much!

I'm absolutely thrilled that Shoma gets to compete at NHK for the first time, but I'm even more excited to watch him live at Skate Can :yahoo:.

I'm in shock, I'm going to get to see Shoma in the flesh :O is anyone else going to skate Canada?

:bang: :party2: :cheer2: :hap85: :dbana: :cheer: :hb:  :scard7: :drama:

Yes!!! I'm here and am celebrating my belated b'day present. This almost calls for me to bring back the purple velvet volleyball for an encore!!!!! I had to go out and do some errands, and when I returned, I saw the announcement. I already purchased my all-event ticket May 20th, not knowing if Shomita would be there. I don't like my seat and am hoping to get something better, now that Yuzu fans will sell off their tickets. This will be my 3rd Skate Canada. Canada runs excellent events!

So happy for you Arriba and everyone else who will get to see Shomita at SC. Thrilled that he got NHK. This is a good omen! GO SHOMA!

so happy that you got this belated birthday present. You will have to keep us all up to date, like always.

Hopefully I'll survive and remember to breathe. I tend to get a bit excited. This could be death by banana (to quote Mai Katze's motto)! :dbana:

I'm so excited!! If I see anyone selling better seats than what I have I might try and get a different one, but I'm just happy I'll get to be there :D

We have a family motto when it comes to events: "YOU WERE IN THE BUILDING!" as in, that's all that counts! So you automatically get to be part of the excitement. :hpull:

Good luck to our winter prince for his GP assignment! Please get a flu shot before going to Canada and conquer that home ice!

Keep us updated for everyone that’s going to see him life!

Where there is a will there's a way. I didn't give up trying for Level A tickets for the Men's Free for the Olys, and at the 11th hour I managed to snag 3rd row seats through the official reseller who got a late batch. Something will likely pop up. Just make sure to check here on the site:

Some are being listed already.

I'm so excited for Shoma and for all those that will be attending SC!! :yahoo::clapper::hap93::gclap::cool2::dance3:

You'll take all your good vibe into the venue and give good luck to Shomita! Yay!

Yes, the 2017 Worlds were here. He should have come here. He could have changed that silver to a gold :agree2:

It would be a very unique gold as well!
(who knows whether it will go back to Cup of China next year or stay where it is)

& yay for everyone who gets to see Shoma at Skate Canada and/or NHK :) Let's hope this season is a great and rewarding one for Shoma!

I would go anyway if I were you. Who knows if this will ever happen again? :)

The chances are low, unfortunately, since Nathan will probably always get Skate America now.

plus Shoma had his glory days in SA before, his Turandot was an absolutely crowd fav at SkAm a couple of years ago. So it will be very hard for Shoma to visit SA again in the next 4 years (considering Nathan factor as well)

As with many other Japanese men, SA was very good to Shoma. Silver in Milwaukee at SA 2015 and he wowed the crowd with his Loco program in Chicago at SA 2016. Wish we could see him here again, although it doesn't seem too likely.
