2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Yes, the girl is a workaholic and loves to skate.

Let's all take a moment to appreciate how many EXs she produced this season: Beautiful, Experience (coreo by herself), Memory and Windmills! Some of these while she was injured and/or without a coach and a proper rink to train. Absolutely amazing!

BTW, what do you guys think of her lutz on the video above? It was an attempted triple with tano, and she fell on it, but you can see she's putting the effort...

doesn't look like an outside edge for me. :scratch2: She usually have a much better edge.

The thing is about Evgenia... she always were putting the effort. She used to have flat edge more often than an inside (IMO).
Today.... edge was definitely an inside. maybe she put too much effort....

I think the fact that she put the Lz in an EX is definitely proof that she's working on it. That said, this was definitely not a clean lutz, and she herself has done better ones in the past.

I think though that considering she hasn't jumped a Lz at all outside of practice since the OG and her injury, it's great that she's putting it in an EX. I think it can also help her with her nerves about this jump, which are quite obviously there considering how everyone knows about her edge issues.

If I was Brian, I would have her drop the tano and focus solely on the entry - I don't expect her to have a clean edge this season though. It's something that takes a lot of time! I think she will be able to at least improve it as time goes by though, she's obviously working on it.

PS. I'm in love with this spin

PPS. Yesterday's reports about a clean Lz were referring to a 2Lz attempt that she did in day 1 :)

The program is not there yet. But has a lot of potentials. She needs to work a little bit more on the speed I think. The steps sequence is intriguing. I expected better musical timing on spins, jumps and twizzles. She was nervouse and first time performing and spotlights. With time she will bring it to perfection. Have a nice season, the first step was done.

The music choice is nice.

I really like the music choice and the costume! I think this program has a LOT of potential, it's a really good pick! She needs to hit the timing more, especially during the stsq because she looks a bit disconnected from the music in my opinion, but for a first performance of it it was really good :) good luck with the season!

Anna seemed a bit hesitant to me. Her jumps didn‘t look very secure and she was a bit off from the music. But overall, it‘s a nice program and if she progresses over the season, she‘ll be fabulous. It‘s probably her first time in front of an audience like this so I can totally understand why she‘d be nervous. It‘s actually really good that she gets to take part in shows like this one because it‘ll help her to become more comfortable in front of a lot of people. And I think I‘ve said it already but her dress is so gorgeous, it makes her look sophisticated and grown-up. Lovely, Anna! :luv17:

Need to remember that she only performed 6 jumping passes there even though she'll actually perform 7. A lot depends on where the final jump will land when it comes to musical timing... I agree though, it seems to get a bit out of sync after the beginning. Love the beginning, by the way. Especially the bracket to the music.

Still, I really love the program actually. So much potential. And the dress is top notch.

If some of you care about video quality like i do, this is a 720p video of Anna at DOI https://youtu.be/Cdr62cLm1yw
I really like the program, it's beautiful and the way she just glides on the ice :luv17: as everybody else i noticed that she kind of looked hesitant with her jumps but understandably, it was her first ice show i think. Beautiful dress and she definitely looks taller and older than the last time i saw her perform nocturne on youtube.

I wonder if next season when Sasha Trusova comes out on the ice, we'll be surprised by her growth as well

"I don’t know about the 3-3 but all the top Russian ladies do them" - at RuNats 2018 16 of 18 managed 3+3 in SP - 3Lz+3Lo(1) 3Lz+3T(6) 3Lo+3T(2) 3F+3Lo(1) 3F+3T(5) 3T+3T(1). What does it mean to be a Russian Top Lady?

"With Eteri it would be hidden in corners and never in any exhibitions whilst with Orser he has already said they are not going to hide it..." - 1/ there are no hidden places on the ice rink. Lots of CCTV; 2/ who told about "hidden Lz"? Etery, Medvedeva? Where and when? Even the judges did not put forward this kind of accusation against Evgenia.

I don‘t think this was meant to accuse Evgenia of anything. It was more of a praise to her that she now dares to put her weakest jump in an exhibition progeam to show that she‘s working on it. Normally, people don‘t want to put their flaws on display so it‘s only natural that she didn‘t jump a lutz in an ex before. But now she does it. This was meant with a change of attitude.

Also, I don‘t want to make up any conspiracies but what I thought „hidden in corners“ could mean, is that Evgenia usually performed her lutz not in the center but the corner of the rink during her programs. I‘ve noticed that many skaters do that with their weakest jumps, maybe to make it more difficult to detect a wrong edge at the first glance or something? But really, I don‘t know this, it‘s just an assumption so don‘t take it as a fact. Thanks.

It's not uncommon for skaters to place their worst jump in the corner where it's harder for the judges to clearly see it. Evgenia always jumped her lz in a corner, as far as possible from the judges :) this is what the post you quoted refers to. When they asked Brian Orser if he would try to fix her lutz he said that he would so she wouldn't have to 'hide' it in the corner anymore

DOI skates are becoming pre-control contest of 18/19 season SP/FS variations.
Functional readiness of Japanese ladies is on top.

Orser sense of taste & depth of disclosure of the character is amazing.
We used to see this kind of subtle nuances in Tursynbaeva practice.

yes, agree
personally, I don't see a problem to place a weakest jump „hidden in corners“.
IMO after what Orser has already said that "they are not going to hide it". There will be a lot of negative comments if she is not going to change a place for her Lz. and tbh I will be one of these people who will think negatively about it.
I don't care where a jump perform in centre or in the corner. But after what Orser promised... I will have a problem with that
Don't promise anything before doing so)

"It's not uncommon for skaters to place their worst jump in the corner..." - being a newcomer to NA FS i find hard to judge it.

"Evgenia always jumped her lz in a corner, as far as possible from the judges..." - there are - https://vk.com/pages?oid=-97272391&p=%D0%95%D0%92%D0%93%D0%95%D0%9D%D0%98%D0%AF_%D0%9C%D0%95%D0%94%D0%92%D0%95%D0%94%D0%95%D0%92%D0%90 - all her 17/18 SP/FS. You are welcome.

There are certain ethical standards in the evaluation of competitors' coaches&their pupils. Orser twice made statements which do not decorate him. It would be appropriate to apologize to ET in person... Like real men do.
