Yes it was really sort of round in circles!

Regarding Jason, if I recall, at some point in the past few months TSL said something to the effect of Brian won’t take Jason because he doesn’t think he can get a quad. After Jason was announced as going to TCC, I think TSL said that someone had looked at the way Kori taught jumps and thought it was wrong, at least as to quads, and the thinking was maybe he could get quads if his technique was tweaked. The implied source for both comments was Doug Haw, but they never actually said that.

I think it is worth adding that even the official story was that initially Brian said no, but Tracy pushed it was a gradual acceptance thing. Honestly i think there was a point where the answer was no.

As for TSL...also worth noting is that they tossed out that this could be a negotiating tactic. So I think what we should draw from it is that the details are still being worked out... and sometimes things fall through at that stage. At least that is how i am going to view it - the plan/goal is for Boyang to go to the TCC, but nothing is finalized yet.

Even if it’s a negotiations thing, it still bites to have this speculation out there. If I was TCC or the Chinese fed, I wouldn’t want this stuff out.

Honestly, I don't think they know. I'm actually still not sure why they wouldn't even give a timeframe? Like, did they feel "not going" implied "ever"? In which case... why not just say it? I think they're not sure at all about what they've even heard, and perhaps it's not from the "usual"/more trustworthy sources, and apparently still got wrong information for Jason. And they can't possibly know what "the Chinese" are thinking, unless they got it from their source who purportedly got it from Brian, and Brian not telling them before letting it slip seems incredibly messy and unlike him. Could be that TCC doesn't like TSL nosing around, but there indeed might be some lag with the CSA which is causing issues. So, for the time being, meh.

I agree, meh, they don’t know. :)

@StitchMonkey, I don’t recall hearing that Brian initially said no, except from TSL. What I do remember reading was that Brian didn’t say yes immediately (which to me is different than saying no), but that when Jason visited the rink he was impressed with his energy and how well he fit in, and Tracy really pushed for him.

Thankfully, Jason’s ambitions are far more higher than what TSL believes they are.

It’s basic persistence asking 101: “Not now doesn’t mean no.”

I took the "had to take my dance card" as a no... a polite no, but a no. But then again that is my reading. Even that link sounds to me like Brian is saying it was a no, but he got won over. And nothing really wrong with that.

Had to look at my dance card is similar to “Hey let me check my schedule” if you were asking Brian out to lunch. He’s not saying “No I definitely don’t want lunch with you,” but “I need to check if I have time to have lunch with you.”

But it doesn’t matter now, lol. Jason’s there. The question is about Boyang...

True! And yeah, I can see how you can read it that way.

My criticism of TSL has been evident in my posts over the years. :biggrin:I obviously have problems with how they have communicated and what they have said.

That said, they *have been right* about coaching moves. They were right about Jason leaving Kori, before it was announced. They were right about Mariah moving to Raf, before it was announced. They were right about Gracie training with Vincent Restencourt (we think) before it was announced. Believing that TSL may actually have knowledge about a coaching move is *not* based on paranoia or unwarranted trust in a gossip site, but on the fact that in the past they have been right. Whether I like it or not.:(

That said, they have also been wrong. TSL flat out said that Brian would "never" take Jason. Not, that Jason was waiting on answer, not that TCC were thinking about it, but that Brian would never, not ever, take him and that Jason shouldn't ever ask. I don't follow TSL so I don't know how they're trying to spin it now, but however they are trying to spin it, they were wrong.:noshake:

My completely uneducated guess, based only in my own supposition and on nothing else, is that Dave Lease is tight with Doug Haw, and Doug whispers in his ear about TCC. But Doug is not Brian and Doug is not Tracy and he doesn't know what they're thinking. So if Doug has actually heard something and wants to pass it on, that's one thing. If Doug is trying to guess what Brian thinks, well, he doesn't know.

My two cents.......

They were also wrong about Higuchi moving to Orser...

Ok so when TSL said Brian would not take Jason, it was more along the line of "I strongly believe Brian Orser would never take Jason Brown"?

But this time they said "Brian said Boyang is not coming"?

Apparently they also said TCC told them Jason won't be coming there. So they have a lot of stories they ought to get straight.
