Brian's in Spain this week and Tracy the next for Javi's camp, so it seems like that plus the camp Boyang was doing and then the ice show in Japan would have made coming in July bad timing for Boyang? Coming by mid August sounds more likely unless there are activities in China for Boyang I don't know about. And didn't someone here or on the FF say Boyang said he was coming in Aug to a fan in Qingdao?

I won't lie and not say I'm a bit worried, given that originally Boyang was expected in June. But so many things can change plans and not all of them sinister. In the end all we can do is wait for confirmation by direct word from the main actors, or by the presence or absence of Boyang at TCC in the coming months.

They said he would be training in Qingdao for a month.

I believe that might have been my speculation you read. I don't think we have any news about him saying anything to fans.

From Message #1253 by saturdaysun in the Boyang FF:

Apparently Boyang was spotted practicing at a rink in Qingdao and the fan said they heard he would be training there for a month, unless Google Translate let me down... https://weibo.com/3668889461/Go5WQBc8Z

and Message #1256 by Xen:

Hi guys, just to explain some stuff. There's a lot of promotional things going on with Team China leading up to Beijing 2022, and everyone, even ones we thought retired (like Li Zijun even) are getting involved.

The ice rink poster that you guys mentioned, has a summer camp training event where skaters get to skate with Boyang and Zhang He. Unless I'm mistaken, Zhang He is confirmed with Raf for the long term right? If so, maybe we shouldn't read too much into it.

Also, this off season is *weird*. For example, when Boyang moves to TCC, Brian isn't there for most of the month. Yet when Brian is back in July, Boyang has committments to this rink to train young skaters, plus an ice show. So it is possible we won't hear anything for a long while, maybe August is the earliest we'll see the two together. And Boyang's first event isn't even till Nov (Finland), and even if he does Senior B's, it's still at end of September. He's also got his choreography done, so he might not need that much time. I'd just sit still and wait until something more concrete comes out.

I think this is what I was remembering?

ETA: So not Boyang saying it, but being spotted and someone else telling the person who posted on Weibo they thought he'd be there for a month.

Just catching up now... so I don’t think it’s implausible that Boyang isn’t coming to TCC anymore :( going there in August is already kinda late, and all these rumors aren’t making me hopeful at all, especially with the mess that is Chinese Fed right now. I also read a rumor somewhere that he himself didn’t want to go?

especially with the mess that is Chinese Fed right now.

What mess?

I can believe Boyang doesn't really want to go overseas to train. It's far more plausible than any of the other conspiracy theories. Maybe the fed and/or his family, coaches, teammates, etc. will take this month to try to convince him to go.

Hopefully the rumors that his current coaches also don't want him to go aren't true, or at least that it's not out of some kind of jealousy. You should want the best for your student, even if means them going to someone else... Then again, Eteri... :noshake:

ridiculous. when was the last Boyang gave you any reason to think he is stand-offish or hard to deal with or troublesome? And then, when was the last time the fed gave you any reason to think they are a mess? the answer is: Boyang: never. The fed: just a few weeks prior when they declared out of nowhere that they won't host any competitions any more.

Would be rather disappointed on Boyang Jin if he himself does not want to go. He should know better after all these years competing internationally on how to move forward. Despite Chinese Fed's problems, they definitely want to medal at the BJ Oly and he is the best bet if he can improve, esp of the artistic / skating skills side, which they know that the best way is to train outside China. I do hope he will be at TCC soon.

Where did anyone use words like "stand-offish" or "hard to deal with" or "troublesome"?? Chill. Not everyone wants to live so far away from home, even if it would help their profession. Or maybe he really thinks he will improve more by staying. The fed publicly said they wanted to send Boyang to Orser. Orser publicly said he was accepting Boyang. The only person who hasn't weighed in is the skater himself, so yeah, it makes sense he could be the one who's hesitant.

And can we stop with the bad take that this is anything like them not hosting any competitions? It literally makes no sense, particularly since they declared part of the reason they're not hosting any events is because they want their skaters to get more international experience -- and they backed that up by sending a bunch of skaters overseas already.

No one says Boyang is a mess. But you have to take into account, it is still HIS career. If he indeed wants to control his own fate, I will support him. He has the rights to decide where he should stay or go. The fed pay for him, yes, but they still do not own him. If Boyang decides he wants to make decisions on his own, then he will.

Nobody is insinuating that Boyang is hard to deal with or troublesome, he could have many reasons why he doesn't want to go to TCC - and then again it's all speculation.

Yes, no one thinks it makes Boyang difficult or troublesome if he doesn't want to upend his entire life to move to another continent when he has had a loyal and fruitful relationship with his own coaches, even if it could be best for his career if he did move. However, this is all speculation since we really have no idea what the reason for the change of plans is.

Question for those who might know: Has Boyang even BEEN to TCC? Like for a visit or anything? Evgenia certainly didn't, I don't think, but I think she was set in her plans already.

I found it odd that he was in the area to get choreography from Lori but didn't even pop in for a visit...that seems to be a thing to do if you were planning to train there.
