Boyang Jin

oh please, when Boyang is finally at TCC, hopefully Yuzu can teach him some hairstyling tricks and on the other hand Boyang can give him advise on suits  Also costume advise from Yuzu for quad lutz secrets from boyang?

There's nothing wrong with Boyang's hairstyle. It's his own personal taste not because he cant do his own hair. Also I dont find Yuzuru hair to be particularly amazing.

Thanks! Sorry if I broke protocol - I'm new around here (and to figure skating).

Lol. Just saw the TSL episode too. I logged in specifically to ask about it so thanks Midnightclass for letting us know. I checked out of that thread once I realized that it was about bagged milk

😂😂😂 I rather liked the bagged milk discussion. But they stopped talking about food and now the thread is mainly news at TCC which is great!

The bagged milk part was separated and moved to Le cafe  Now it feels like team oser's fan fest.

Has anyone considered that all this bagged milk talk might be a contributing factor to all the rumours and speculation :sarcasm:

but yuzu's are outstanding ;)

Well, I think most folk might agree that they are outstandingly something (me I love most of 'em, but I'm biased) but there is probably no one else in the skating world who could get away with them, and certainly Boyang.... no. Just no. He'll develop his own style, hopefully as quirky and sunshiny as he is.

Flying and spinning in the face of the laws of physics and the lmits of human ability...?
 No problem.

A plastic bag full of cow juice in the fridge?
:eeking: Too confusing!!

Thank you so much for the welcomes! I love Boyang's skating and hope he has a great season (and quad and Olympics in Beijing!) He seems like such a sweet person and his jumps are to die for!!

Welcome as well! Doesn't matter if you're new to FS, hang around here and you will learn lots. :agree: And yass!!! Boyang's jumps are amaaazzzzing specially his 4Lz is the BEST!:drama:

Why do you think that Boyang does 2 toes instead of 2 lutzes in his free skate? To me, his Lutz is a better jump in every way, he can do it in combo, and it's worth more points

I think Two 4T is safer to carry out than two 4Lz. The second 4T he does is usually in the second half of the program (I think) so he is usually more tired and quads become more difficult. Note that the 4Lz is always his first jumping pass where he's the least tired and he can really focus and concentrate on execution as it is the most difficult jump (and he makes it looks so easy).
Furthermore, he hasn't changed his jump layout tor the past quad so his jumping passes haven't increased in difficulty.

Follow up question:
Is transitions taught by the coaches or added in by the choreographer? Why do you think Boyang has very little transitions in his programs?

He has not many transitions because his current ability does not allow him to skate cleanly his quads with packed transitions. That can change in the future.

4 toe/3 toe in second half is still worth less than a 4 lutz/3 toe in first half, though. And he consistently gets higher GOE on 4 lutz so its worth even more points. You think the lutz itself wears him out that much? Seems weird that 1 quad would take so much more out of him than others.

I wonder when he's going to upgrade his layout again. You would think that he'd take the short cut and play the BV game like Nathan but it seems that he's prioritizing improving other areas at the expense of BV.

I don't know, but I would seem that, compared to the "easy" quads, 4Lz is a completely different animal. And again, I think it's kinda hard to compare GOE of a first jumping pass to one that isn't first.

The fact that he doesn't play the BV game is I think why so many people (including myself) have came to like him. Because it seems he wants to improve the overall quality of his skating, not just get higher marks quickly. Despite the fact that I don't doubt he could just keep rising his BV to the skies.
