There's a fine line between calling somebody "a bit of a troll" and mocking someone's name into a nickname. I find the latter very inappropriate.

I assure you that mocking his name is the furthest thing on my mind when I wrote that word and that is even not a nickname I used to call him all the time.
If we're to go into detail, it is more like a wordplay with troll as one of his 'mode' and Zu as his nickname.

However, I acknowledged that this might be seen in a different ways by different people and I will try to avoid that in future posts.

To continue with the music topic, I also like OST for Nier: Automata. There are several tracks to stitch together and the characters wore black.

I think it's a matter of not quite getting each other's cultural norms and ideas, no matter how much we think we do - me, I saw it as a total sign of affection, and in fact in my culture a celebrity who didn't have a handful of affectionate/teasing nicknames... well, you know people don't really care that much about them. It can be fascinating seeing where we don't know how other people see things.

Back to the music! (a topic I never tire of) and did someone say folk music? Something by Ralph Vaughan Williams would do that, if it wasn't too English (or even if it was, two of my favourite men in a musical meld? bring it on). Can I suggest the Romanza from RVW's 5th symphony? I have yet to listen to that without the same catch in the back of my throat that Yuzu's best brings.

On the topic of music, when I think jazz I think of Sing, Sing, Sing which Yuzu seems to love. I feel like that might be what he considers jazz. Has Jeff choreographed any jazz SPs in the past (I feel if jazz is going to happen it'll be a SP)?
Don´t know if Jeff has worked with jazz? But I do believe that for most music pieces to work as skate programs much have changes in tempo

Same, I always interpret them as affection by default especially when it is used by someone I know is a fan. I guess I got it from my other fandom (non-FS) nicknames are made by the fans all the time to show affection. This discussion made me realize that not everyone takes nicknames positively. I’ll need to be careful from now on.

What do you guys think about an MJ program for Yuzuru?

I don’t find them particularly cute, and it looks to me like they were giving from a very young person, don’t think they are offensive, but since Yuzuru like to be called Yuzu don’t think there is a need for another nickname...

I find them really endearing and not used to infantilize him, but to each its own. I'll be sure to stick to twitter if I feel the pressing need to call Yuzu Zuzu.

I like to see it, but I don't know which song I want to pick, there are too many

It's interesting discussion about the nickname, do you guys call him in the same way when you talk about him in your real life? I call him on the international forum "Yuzuru" mostly, but I call him "Hanyu", "Hanyu-kun", or "Hanyu-san" in Japanese SNS and in real conversation with my Japanese acquaintances. And now I realize that I have not called him "Yuzu" in my real life while many Japanese fans call him so. But I swear my love for him is real :o:

I guess for me it depends on both who I’m talking to and what language I’m speaking/writing. In English, I typically use Yuzu or Yuzuru but sometimes I do use Hanyu, usually when I talk with non-fans, I think.
In Thai I always call him Yuzu or Yuzuru because we don’t call people with lastname here. We typically use first names or nickname. Thais usually have a nickname that is given by our parents, it’s not in our official paper but we most frequently address people we actually know with the nickname rather than their full given name. We address most celebrities by their nicknames as well so for us calling him “Yuzuru” or “Yuzu” is quite natural. I do see some fans follow the Japanese way and address him as “Hanyu” “Hanyu-kun” as well though.

I guess, you mean the King of Pop?

Tbh, I love the music, but I wouldn't recommend it as a program for him. There's always that issue with the dance comparison, it's really tough to imitate Michael Jackson... many other dancers and skaters have already failed and it's even harder to do your own style. MJ without a Moonwalk is no MJ imo (just an example)

But I'm pretty sure: with Bruno's "Marry You" Yuzu would break records of
a) Loudest mid-program-screams ever
b) Most nosebleeds and heart-attacks in the front rows (esp. when he's is pointing somewhere over there)
c) Biggest Pooh-rain of all time
:laugh2::rofl:

Did Plushy do the Moonwalk in his MJ SP? I can’t recall, but then again it wasn’t one of his best programs IMHO.

Regarding Yuzuru skating to MJ, as much as I love all of MJ’s music, I can’t think of one song by him that would work for a skating program. Prince’s music, specifically the Purple Rain album was perfect for skating. In fact that entire album made for great skating material, which is why I was so excited when Yuzuru decided to do a SP to LGC, and of course loved what he did with it.

Sounds good.

PD.
Let´s keep glee 20 million miles away from Yuzuru

Then maybe a two cellos version? I love minimalist music, too bad the judges don't seem to appreciate minimalism
I really like Naya Rivera's vocals (Santana's actress) not so much the guy's though, glee has some really good covers, they are my guilty pleasure

If Jeff still choose music for Hanyu's SP this year, then I think we can expect some music from a great-yet-recently-died-musician or a classical piece. Not to be disrespectful to the said musician, but Parisian Walkways and Let's Go Crazy have that pattern.

He also use a lot of musical´s songs, and contemporary artist. The fact that Yuzuru hasn´t skated to one of this doesn´t mean that Jeffrey has not presented him with more options in music, in the end Yuzuru is the one making the choice.

Today, we have FaOI Niigata broadcast on BS Fuji from 5 pm. It has already aired on the local station but today it is showing nationally, it is only for an hour but hope it is fun :)

What if... you could have the moonwalk? Minute 2:04

Since I saw Wakaba’s MJ EX I can’t stop thinking what Yuzu could do and I think it could be pretty amazing!

Hi there. Newbie here. Well to this thread anyway. Long time skating fan but mainly Ice Dance. Have always enjoyed javi as he is European like me but the Olympics brought a certain Mr. Hanyu to my attention. I was pretty much instantly smitten. His grace on the ice really moves me. Suffice to say that since the Olympics I've basically fallen in love with the man- skating wise and as a human being. So hello one and all.
