2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Dream JGP rosters? Here's mine:

Week 1: Shcherbakova, Kanysheva (whoever wins first JGP, wins final...)
Week 2: Trusova, Sinitsyna
Week 3: Kostornaya, Tarusina
Week 4: Tarakanova, Kanysheva
Week 5: Shcherbakova, Sinitsyna
Week 6: Trusova, Tarusina
Week 7: Kostornaya, Tarakanova (4A has to meet at some point)

A bit off-topic but where do you get to buy tickets for JGP events? I‘ve never been to a figure skating competition before, so sorry if the question is dumb.

Last year's JGP in Gdansk was free of charge. Junior events aren't overcrowded, so very probably most of them are free.

Coming back to the the whole 300 page thing, I have to say that I don't comment here a lot because you're all v knowledgable about these incredible ladies but I love reading this thread. While at times it can get a little crazy, I can understand with so many and such talented skaters and so few spots for all of them! I'm very excited to see how they all perform this year, I know that they'll deliver some very special performances. There's really no thread like the Russian Ladies thread on this forum <3

A wonderful post for a wonderful thread! My home thread of sorts
You guys are the best

Ah, that‘s why I couldn‘t find where to buy tickets! I guess in Austria figure skating events aren‘t usually too overcrowded and junior events probably even less so that makes sense.

Samodurova - JGPF 187.74, 3Lz - ! 3 times, 3F+3T ...?

Judging at JGPF wasn't in her favour.

Eteri's skaters were obviously the best of the field, and Japan didn't want to make their skaters look bad in comparison so Sofia was the one screwed.

EDIT: i've to say looking at the bv of her program, even though she doesn't have a 3+3, the program is well designed and still guarantees a lot of points.

60.27 bv.

if you add the 2 points for the choreo sequence

62.27 bv

That is basically on par with most of the top skaters fs from last season.

Hm. To be honest, I‘m not that much of a fan of her. Her jumps are rather small even though her loop is quite nice and the 3T after the 2A was a bit higher. But overall I just don‘t see her stand out among all the other Russians. Her spins also aren‘t that good, especially her Biellman. She spins quite slow, too. And does she have a 3-3? I mean, in general I liked the skate, it was quite a nice performance and she was the deserved winner of this competition but I‘m just not sure whether she could stand out in a field as competitive as the Russian.

Yes she can land both 3F-3T and 3Ltz-3T.

Agreed that her jumps are not huge but at RN she showed great personality on the ice, especially at the end of the free skate

I think she skates with more speed and maturity than a lot of the other russian skaters, including for example Daria Panenkova or maybe even Tsurskaya.

Even with the Buyanova influence?
I wish Samodurova had two spots initially :( but the team is too full, she's so good but Mishin just doesn't have the politicking that Buyanova does...

I am pretty sure that if Samodurova has a chance for final (for example, gets silver or gold at her assignment) they will screw buyanova influence - specially because Buyanova already has Sotskova, Radionova and Tsurskaya with 2 GPs, so not sure if she will politik too much

As for Samodurova, we don't know what she has been training. Maybe she will show up with a 3-3 this year. After all, Mishin has to mishin.

Yes, she has had 3Lz-3T and 3F-3T

Mishin needs a mission... :laugh2: had to...
I guess it depends on SA... but in that case, it might be too late for Gubanova. But my gut tells me she'll get Rostelecom unless Sofia gets a gold.

How so? Aren't junior test skates in the beginning of August?

First event entries and subs must be finalized by the 20th (but they can sub in and out of the list pretty close to the SP) so we'll know by the 23-24

Indeed, 20th of July for JGP Slovakia, 27th for Austria - all before the test skates? How could they possibly know whom to send? How was it managed last year? Had they packed the entries with all the names, then chose actual participants at test skates?

I can't recall last year procedure, sclerosis. :whack:

For all the deadlines prior to test skates, they just submit a list of the 8-10 girls who they are 90% certain they will give a JGP spot (this is based off results from the previous year). This is why last year they could only send Kostornaya to the last two JGP events. The initial lists of competitors and substitutes for the first five JGP events had already been sent in prior to test skates and because Kostornaya was almost entirely unknown nobody had thought to put her on the lists.
