2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I imagine that they'll pick two of the following as actual entries and list the rest as subs:
Trusova
Kostornaya
Shcherbakova
Tarakanova
Tarusina
Kanysheva
Sinitsyna
Vasilieva
Guliakova
Nugumanova
Gubanova
Chistyakova

The initial lists of competitors and substitutes for the first five JGP events had already been sent in prior to test skates and because Kostornaya was almost entirely unknown nobody had thought to put her on the lists.

btw Alena wasn't invited to last season test skates. but she amazingly performed at 29 Aug - 01 Sep 2017, Open Moscow competition and RusFed gave her a spot at Poland JGP

For all the deadlines prior to test skates, they just submit a list of the 8-10 girls who they are 90% certain they will give a JGP spot (this is based off results from the previous year). This is why last year they could only send Kostornaya to the last two JGP events. I wonder who will come out of nowhere this year? Alina did the same thing too IIRC.

I wonder if there will be another superstar standout this season that we hadn't really thought would be. 2016: Alina, 2017: Alena. Will there be one this year?

Do you think my avatar girl is gonna be on the list? :hopelessness::eek:

Of course, Anna Shcherbakova. :agree:

Nah, Anna doesn‘t count. Alina and Alena literally came out of nowhere, no one thought they‘d win anything before they suddenly did. Anna‘s the girl jumping 4Lz and getting invitations for shows before even making her international debut. We already have her on our radar and rightfully so. Still hoping she‘ll have a phenomenal season. :agree:

Well, with such strict requirements the only one who at all comes to mind is Yasmina Kadyrova. I think she'd come the most out-of-nowhere of them all.

:yahoo:
It's hard to believe exactly year ago all she could do is to lie in her bed with cast on her severely broken leg. I have all the respect in the world for her. :console::bow:

Sorry I meant the Open Moscow competition, I just confused it with test skates/somehow thought she had skated at both (I should have realised the timeline didn't quite match as they could have put her for the 4th JGP if she had appeared at test skates)

Well Eteri managed to get four girls JGP spots last year...and I'm pretty sure there was video of Kadyrova attempting a 4S

It's a bit of a tough one because with those girls the main thing is that they've been Eteri's skaters but Eteri doesn't really have anyone new this season unless Yasmina Kadyrova ends up being a thing. For the other coaches, I really don't have the confidence that they can just whip someone up out of nowhere. All the names I can think of have already performed well. And some others with sleeper potential like Anfisa Ryabova won't be old enough.

Yeah, if you think about it it‘s really amazing what these girls manage to do at such a young age. And it‘s equally terrifying. Anna having her foot broken and then what, a year later jumping quads and skating in international shows in front of millions of spectators. Alina breaking her arm and leg at the Youth Game, being kicked out by her coach only to be later taken in again and proceeding to struggle throughout several competitions until finally having her work pay off and winning OGM. Evgenia having two phenomenal seasons only to have her foot broken at the worst possible time, skating with pain at the OG and still delivering two clean skates. Polina‘s illness, Elena‘s growth spurt, Anna P‘s back injury, Yulia‘s struggles after winning OGM... These girls may look like little angels on the ice but in reality, they‘re made of steel. I guess that applies to athletes in general and not only Russian figure skating ladies but to me, they‘re among the best examples. So young yet so full of competitive fire, it‘s not even believable. :yahoo:

Why wouldn't she be?
She didn't participate in last year's JGP, so I guess she's expected to show up big at test skates. No free meal at Russian Hunger Games. :scard8:

I think Tarusina is the closest one to surprise everybody, but even she won't be like Alina and Alena. She had great late last season and was a very promissing name two years ago before her bus accident.

Am I right with the assumtion that there will be JGPs in Bratislava, Linz AND Salzburg? I guess I'm lucky :D Will anyone need an amateur livestream or are there real ones planned?
