Too unbelievable, sad, and tragic for words. I don’t understand why someone would go to an action like this - especially over car mirrors. They can be replaced and duplicated. A person is not.

Still can´t wrap my mind around this, when I saw his thread active on the fan fest I was thinking he probably announced his music for this year programs...and the news were this...

Also it made me sad the way his country is being reported (as violent dangerous place) when it seems to me that he really wanted to be an ambassador for Kazajstan

The sad thing in all of that is how little means person's life to some, that it is less worth than some material things, this very little understanding and compassion over someone else's life facing such events. I cannot relate nor understand over such incredibly narrow focus over having things in possession, stealing them, adding such violent, ruthless instinct over it to harm - or even kill - others. I can only hope that this senseless death won't be here for nothing, that it will inspire to be better in memory of Denis.

I can't stop thinking about how positive and optimistic he was, and how much he was going to do. He had plans to pursue music and remain an advocate for figure skating in Kazakhstan long after he would have retired from competition. He will really be deeply missed.

Such a desperate, desolate feeling on reading this distressing news.

My favourite memory is probably the first time I saw him in competition, and that was in Vancouver 2010. It seemed like the World was wide open and he would go far. Everything seemed possible!

Then I remember reading he was staying on for another season when the GP assignments were released a few weeks ago - after so many disappointments and setbacks, he was still determined to continue his career at the GP series. I really respected that decision and hoped that he could come back. More than his figure skating career, I mourn the loss of life of a young man who still had his whole life in front of him, and possibilities that went beyond the sport. Finding love, a family, personal happiness - the chance to grow old, we all deserve. I still cannot really believe this happened.

Today, the world lost a bright star. Denis was not only incredibly talented, but also the kind of athlete where his kindness and light was felt way beyond the rink.
