Denis Ten

vorravorra might be more help. I am very unfamiliar with law, especially international law. How it works though basically is the intent; from what they are describing they are trying to say they didn't intend or plan to kill him. That usually means manslaughter where they kill without intent while committing a crime. Given that it seems multiple accounts say there were words exchanged, multiple scraps and multiple stab wounds, I wonder if they'll pursue a murder charge.

If they have committed other crimes as well, they may get charged and their sentences can add up. What makes me sad is that they at least get to live their lives and Denis will not despite his genuine intentions and amazing work so far.

Thank you.

Is the problem... maybe they did exchange words and that when all escalated... and well... I do wish they serve the maximum they can get

People who steal car parts are generally not killers, but if you are criminal and your job involves using a knife it's not all that surprising that one day it would end badly.

It´s amazing to me how random life can be, how tiny decision you take every day can change life for yourself and your family in a second... I keep wondering if the place was a place Dennis was regularly... If instead or going alone he would have gone with a friend...

The report says he suffered a repeated blow to various parts of his body, many cuts were deep, with the fatal one being the one in the thigh. That doesn't sound like a panicked thief who just didn't want Denis to run after him and didn't intend to kill him. Obviously the culprit is trying to lighten the offence.
The report by the Ministry of Health does not say anything about blows, but multiple stab wounds to the buttock area and right upper thigh and multiple grazes to the face, arms and knees. Have they released another report?

totally agree with everything ejnsofi wrote re: using a knife

ugh I need to stop thinking about this but cant!:sad4:

anyway the suggestion of someone here to name a GP or any kind of competition in his honor is such an amazing idea!!:cheer2: I to rename the 4 Conts the best! (I doubt it can be organized tho:scratch2:)

I saw Denis live in Shanghai in 2015 and I really liked his free program. I tried to write my impressions down after the event and they say that he looked self confident as if he knew his own worth.
And I was also very impressed by the devoted Kazakh fans (I even took a picture of them).

Lucky You, thanks a lot for sharing the memory and picture, I remember that EX to 'Money On My Mind' by Sam Smith, also one of my fave EX to get back to

Although I enjoyed his programs before, I began paying more attention after 2013 Worlds. And after that he had many great programs. Even when he missed many jumps and fell quite often in later years, those programs were still worth watching because of everything else. Not many skaters have that, that even when they miss jumps or fall, their program is still great to watch.

I remember signing the petition after 2013 Worlds. Those rules gave Chan the gold, but I felt Ten deserved that one. It was strange feeling like that, as I enjoyed most Chan programs as well. But that competition belonged to Ten, even if Chan won it fairly according to those rules. I remember Jacky Wong explaining how it worked in more detail. But you know what I liked about Ten even more that season? Not once did he say that he should have won, he wasn't disrespectful. I never heard him saying terrible things about other people. Skaters like Chan and Joubert and Weir and many more names, did, but not Denis Ten and that made me like his personality as well as his work. I remember thinking 'his parents must be so proud of both his achievements and his character'.

I really enjoyed his FS this past season and wish he had had better performances with it. That FS song brought back memories from the past I thought I had forgotten. It sounded like a different song altogether, yet familiar. Until I realised I heard it before in a different style. It is strange to watch it now.

I'm still shocked. One day has passed and many others will, with thoughts for the family and the friends of such a wonderful skater and a beautiful, kind person; and also for the skating community that has lost one of his greatest figure around the world, the ambassador of figure skating in Kazakhstan, a beloved artist, and a great champion.
I'm just so sad, it's just unimaginable. Rest in Peace, Denis, your memory will live on.

Not to bead a dead horse but yeah , looking in retrospective 2013 should have been D10's world title and its a shame he can no longer pursuit that goal. It's not like he was first in the LP but was coming back from behind , he was second!! in the short AND then won the LP!! yet he didn't win overall (bogus). However like you said, he was more than happy with the silver and never complained. Admirable and again, a shame.

Seeing any video of him skating absolutely brings me to tears. My heart is very heavy and the senselessness is too much for me to comprehend. I’m sure the grief and shock will lesson but I don’t think I’ll ever be the same.

I’m sure his spirit will live on and his memory will not be forgotten but nothing can change that this should have never happened. He brought so much good into this world...it’s just so unfair.

Another wonderful tribute to Denis.

I know it's a video from a very controversial Youtuber (whose name is apparently blocked on this forum so I can't even type it, but this is not the place and time to complain), but even if you dislike that channel, you have to admit this is such a wonderful tribute.

A day has passed and I still can't find the words. Rest In Peace Denis, you will always be remembered for your kind soul and your beautiful skating. Thank you for making the world brighter the time you spent here with us.

I really hope the ones that did this to him spend the rest of their lives in jail. Even though we cannot have Denis back, at least they won't have a life. Sorry, I'm so angry...

Please let's appreciate life, it's so fragile...

i don't care about the murderers... people who are willing to kill often probably don't care about the importance of every life, and in this case, of a special one.
5 10 15 years.. i don't care. nothing will bring him back. nothing will ever be fixed. Justice doesn't really do justice. There is nothing that will soothe my sorrows.
I cannot imagine how his family is going through this. I know how difficult it is for parents to lose a child. Your own flesh. Your own pride. Denis must have given them so much joy and happiness during his too short life. I have been a fan for a long time and when I look at everything he has done on and off the ice, I cannot help to think : what could he have done for this world? He was the combination of smartness and kindness, with great ambitions for his country.

There is nothing really that will make me feel better today again... I am looking forward to going to work as today I work with talented children. Their joy and innocence is the only thing that can bring my smile back.

Rest peacefully dearest Denis.

A day has passed for me....and stunned, shocked and lost for words, the skating community have lost a special person, so much outpouring for Denis, he was such a benevolent person and so young! Just so unbelievable. I remember John Curry's passing and Sergei Grinkov's..this seems just worse beyond everything.....

They say time is a good healer...I am hoping his legacy will live on!!

What a fantastic skater, artistry second to none maybe only matched by a few male skaters (of course John Curry amongst them!)

Denis I hope your kind soul is reincarnated into another brilliant human being! please do that for me god!

My high school friend was killed about 5 years ago during a robbery, in front of my friend /his wife, they were high school sweethearts... At the beginning there is no understanding, and anger, we questioned why the "best" is the one that was taken away (he was the best, class president, helped everyone with their problems, friend, and person you could always go for advice...).

My friend suffered a lot, specially because of the shock she thought she hadn´t done anything to help him his last moments, until in the place where he was killed they gave the security recorded and she could see how she tried to save his life...In the next months she will swim between moods, one day she was totally fine, the next one she was a mess. ..now she is doing better... she is in a new relationship, so she found the way to move on.

Right now all the emotions are raw, but "justice" at least give a little peace.
