TGee I expect a full report from Minto. Especially the junior men's event. You know we're all hyped for that.

Actually the junior dance event is so intriguing. A lot of musical chairs means old partners squaring off against each other in a huge field. But Lajoie/Lagha won't be there with their Warsaw Concerto FD. Disappointing. They will be at Championnats instead. As will Alaine Chartrand!

4everchan will you be able to crawl across town for CQE?
Minto Summer Skate is up to 4 rinks most days...

and running without breaks for hockey on some rinks (which happened last year).

So, I'll get to what I can but will be making some hard choices...

Junior men have an early evening SP Friday and an 8 am FS Saturday... I don't think I'll make the FS.

I went on YouTube to look at her programs. Did she have a growth spurt? Cause it seems some of the posture/positioning quirks seems more like her getting used to being taller and not quite knowing what to do with her (new?) long limbs. But I feel like she potentially, with some training and practice, really show some beautiful lines.

As for her jumping technique, it seems like she grounds her non-jumping knee into the ice a bit and it prevents her from really getting that spring her jumps. I will say she had a nice lutz edge!

By chance will she get to get some coaching with Lee Barkell and the rest of Team TCC like Conrad?

And it seems that she is working on a 3-3! https://www.instagram.com/p/BkJMmlclRRN/?hl=en&taken-by=ameliaorzel
Hi Mrs. P

Here's a recent family photo from Conrad's high school graduation...

https://www.instagram.com/p/BklyyBJjRTc/?hl=en

You can see that they are a tall family. Conrad is far taller than the 180 cm his ISU bio lists from last season.

And Amelia is already quite tall, but may have a ways to grow based on the old formula of the average of mum and dad's height minus 2 cm.

I don't know who Conrad and Amelia's first coach was...could be that the take-off is a legacy issue. Certainly, we didn't see that in other YRSA skaters e.g. Roman...

I'd say that Amelia's in a good situation at YRSA for now. In addition to head coach Tracey Wainman , YRSA has a strong team.

And last year, former 4CC ice dance silver medallists Michael Coreno and Ally Hann moved from Ottawa and joined the group...coaching Matthew Markell to the national Junior men's title.

But as SnowWhite says, if a summer or switch to TCC is what's needed, it sounds as though the family is the kind that won't hesitate.

We will get to see Stephens new programs at minto :) heres hoping for a golden finish for him here!
Le championnat d'été and Minto are where Candian skaters in central Canada usually debut their new programs.

Sometimes the will only do the SP and skip the FS if it isn't ready.

But as Stephen Gogolev is booked for the early JGPs, if he's going to Minto he'll be doing his new programs to get competition experience and judges feedback before he hits an ISU event.

Seems like we're getting a regular drip of videos from the Gadbois teams' programs. Here's another junior team, Bronsard and Bouaraguia, doing "The Greatest Show".

oh.. i had never seen this team... loving them !!!! she is charming and he has gorgeous lines
Definitely very stunning for a gif of an opening in July...

Looks like the ice dance Juniors will be exciting this season...

Sad to read about Julianne and Charlie ending things, whatever the reason was, since they seemed to be well along on preparation for next year. It’s been a rough couple of years for them, health wise, so I hope it’s nothing that serious.

Kirsten and Michael have gone from the #4 team to #1-by-default with remarkable speed.

I am sorry to hear about it too and also worried about her health. I hope this is not a health issue and that they will both be able to continue skating.

Not by default. As the entire point of the partnership was to continue beyond the 2018 Olympics, I would say it was the exact opposite.

Well.... that's expected with post Olympic retirement. It's only being handed the #1 spot that's a shock. I think they were counting on being no lower than #2. And technically, they were the #3 team the last two seasons (although that is debatable).

Seeing as M-T&M won the last head-to-head against Seguin & Bilodeau, this isn't an accurate statement either. I think it's more accurate to say that the competition for the number 1 Canadian pairs spot has bowed out. Seguin & Bilodeau defeated M-T&M at Nationals and the Olympics so they had the argument for becoming number 1, but it was a position in dispute based upon results. M-T&M did put the pressure on last season and did get the job done at Worlds. I think most of us thought we would see that battle continue. (And it's quite likely, with such talented athletes, that we will in the future via new partnerships. Just not for now).

Personally, from an audience member's perspective, I think when you're looking at a pairs field that has 1 injured team (Yu & Zhang), 2 teams likely to retire within a season or two (James & Cipres and Marchei & Hotarek), 1 team officially retired (Duhamel & Radford), 1 team quite plausibly done competing though not officially (Savchenko & Massot). And you're sitting in 9th place at the Olympic Games, with only Tarasova & Morozov, Sui & Han (who have had injury issues), and Zabiiako & Enbert ahead of you likely to stay in four more years, then splitting up with your partner seems like the exact antithesis of what one should do in order to try to make the international podium.

But as removed audience members, we're not the ones in the partnership or at the practices. And none of us--including S&B--can read the future.

Maybe Luba can finish cirque and then team up with Charlie!

In one of the articles posted in the S/B Split thread, Charlie indicated he is not in a rush to resume competing. If Lubov's contract with Cirque is only for a year, who knows, maybe it is a possibility...

I'd like to see them give it a try out.

I think that they could have a really interesting range of expression together.

In the Junior Ladies competition at Skate Detroit, Evelyn Walsh and Natalie Walker finished 1st and 2nd in Group B, and Madeline Schizas was 3rd in Group A. All three go on to the Junior Ladies Final Free Skate tomorrow morning.
