2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

"Junior skater". What on earth is Yuhana Yokoi still doing in juniors? Imagine if Medvedeva started competing in juniors the next season.

Anyway, she's no threat.

Yuhana Yokoi is - according to the ISU rules - still eligible to skate in Juniors, so she has every right to do it. With Japan having a very crowded senior, but "weaker" Junior field, it simply makes sense. She's not "stealing" anyone's spots, she's simply going the way that will likely get her more possibilities and experience. Skaters are allowed to have different ways how they progress through their career and Yuhana is certainly not deserving of your condescending remark and disrespect for not fitting to your own definition of a ~Junior skater~.

Regarding the assignments, I'm glad to see Tarusina up so early, and I will definitely root for her to do well :)

True, Anna’s quad should put her out of contention if clean.
Doesn't need to be clean. As Trusova showed, even falling on an underrotated quad is stronger than not attempting quad.

She obviously is eligible to skate there, otherwise she wouldn't be skating there... But I do find it very odd, especially for a Japanese skater. And I'm not going to call a 18-year-old skater a junior skater. My opinion is that these age limits are designed with significantly weaker skaters from small countries in mind.

Evgenia Medvedeva is eligible to skate in juniors as well. And yes, I'd refer to her as "junior" skater as well.

Sorry if some quotation marks are something you find so offensive.

Could I please have a link to this Anna Tarusina girl and her 3lz-loop-3f ? Elder Age nationals video or something recent? I don’t know much about her.

She won Elder Age two times in 2016 and 2018. Anna was assigned to JGP France in 2016 but was heavily injured in car accident right before the short program. She has very good last season, qualified to senior Russian nationals and finished 12th with 195.59. Seems like all her programs last season were skated clean. In interview Anna said they worked on 4T. However that car accident left its mark she has some problems with knees and metal thing inside her head.

KNEW Gubanova would stay in the junior ranks and am content with that. Looking forward to her getting two spots and seeing what she can do. Hopefully Konstantinova 2.0

I'm probably the only one here because everyone is obsessed with Shcherbakova, but I'm rooting for Tarusina. I would love for her to win this JGP, I think she is such a beautiful skater:love:

Thanks!!😄 Just finished watching it. Who is her coach? She seems to have weak 2A technique, but oh well, it looks like she’ll be a threat to her compatriots anyways. Very exciting to see the new Russian skaters. She’ll be, what, 16 in this upcoming season?

On a side note: WHO is the girl who skated to Crazy In Love and The Great Gatsby??😂

I really enjoyed her skating. She has much better body control than other young (and not so young) Russians. Hoping she does well on JGP and can score a second assignment, I would love to see more of her.

I love Anna. Her jumps are not huge, but her landings are so sure and firm.
I hope she continues the stamina and comes back strongly after the car accident!

Sergey Davydov — also coaches Samodelkina and Berestovskaya, and possible new coach of Panenkova

Tarusina has two flaws - 1. small steps, small deviation from the vertical, weak edges 2. weak StSq & Spins
