So she comes out in her Tigress get up and Shoma in his Rook costume. :)

How do these contests work anyway? Do they have to jump the same jump?

I have no idea how it works. All I know is I hope we get to see it. Tigress Alina vs. Sho Great Spirit ( or Rook or Hungarian Sho). Forget the jumps. He should challenge her to a Shozipspin. She wouldn't have a chance! Maybe we better hope the Nagoya Mafia and Toyota have rigged this! :jaw: :hap57:

Oh thanks Gacchan for the translation. It’s interesting to know that Shoma now has a different role for The Ice.
Anyway, another thing I notice from Shoma’s performances on this show from all the different programs is that he is so much more solid in his movements. He’s no longer awkward in group choreo and seems to even lead it. He also exudes confidence and maturity. I suppose giving him a lot of leading parts has awaken a different side of him. So so excited to see him this season!

Usually for the dance off contest the judge is one of the skaters.

I can't answer about the jump contest. I am curious too.

Shoma has come out from the shadows as he takes his place as a leading man!

:laugh2: It's not the same jump, from what I've read until now Sho won with 2A-4T and against Boyang he also did 3A-1T and a lot of people were saying that maybe he was going for 3A-4T but popped the jump :eeking: and yes, the judges have been until now other skaters (Nobu and Mirai in Sho vs Dima Aliev)

Yeah the ShoZipSpin could be the tie breaker😜 Arriba you are to funny🤣

Thanks everyone for the neverending stream of links, translations and comments! I have some catching up to do, but I can already say this: STH's stsq is fire!!! :dbana:

Not sure about MS yet as it's visibly in its early stages, so will reserve judgement for now. However, I will say that I'm fond of this part (to 1:57) already.

A couple more translated bits from the Kanako x Shoma talk:

I just love their sibling-like dynamic. Never missing any opportunity to mercilessly tease each other. What a brilliant coup to have Kana conduct the interview! The mental image of Sho staring blankly while eating veggies is priceless. :laugh2:

I am a representative of Alina-land and I come in peace....

Sorry - but we have petitioned the ISU and they have agreed to ban the ShoZipSpin for one day only - August 5th.

The new tie-breaker will be the "Masaru Dance"!!!!

....and a special message from Alina (the girl who formerly wore the pretty white dress)
ARE YOU READY SHOMA????

I really hope they tie, and then later skate together again --- only them - no other skaters.

^^^^:laugh2: Hello @lessnar001! Alina looks ready. That is an adorable photo. Not sure if your petition with the ISU will work because
Shoma's family owns Toyota and have contacts with the Nagoya Mafia so the fix might be in. ;)

Best of luck to both of them but since this is Sho's FF I have to say GO Shomita!! :)

That costume gives me a Spiderman vibe (which would be consistent with the Blue Power Ranger appearance). 🤣 But I do love the program! I liked the first part better when he performed it at Heroes, but the second half is most definitely on fire here, and that hand hair- combing action... I'm deadz. MS obviously needs more work, but that's okay.

I love his response to her "Should I call you Uno-senshu?" And he's like, "Nah, if they got you for this, that's not what they're looking for." [emoji23]

Just wanted to say- Is it just me? I couldn't help but look at his arms during the interview, especially when they showed that clip from the practice at the Ice two years ago. His arms were thin then, but now! He has muscular and toned arms. :dbana:. I don't think they were like that at the end of last season, either. There's been some serious upper body training during the off- season!

Nah. I love his new costume. :luv17:

I actually like Spiderman, haha. The shade of red used on the costume is a bit bright for me, but it does make him stand out and also emphasizes the... um, upper body bulk? So it's not a bad thing.

Welcome to the FF, Nuki!

it is hard to tell the color of red, in the video it looks lighter but in the professional photos it looks darker.

about Shoma's free Moonlight Sonata choreo. it seems a bit simple at first glance, but for some reason, it attracted me to watch it many times.
maybe Shoma is just doing simpler edges/in-betweens e.g. cross-over in the first half of the program, but Shoma's simpler edges are done in such a supreme quality it really matched Moonlight Sonata's simple yet classic music chords, if you read the music sheet of Moonlight Sonata, you will find out, it is composed of nothing fancy but simple chord. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkXfYCkQkqg Shoma's classic but supreme quality edge work is a perfect match, is it?
Suddenly understand the genius concept(secret) behind all this. simpler edges are not fillers but purposely choreoed to the music.
also, Shoma's jump smooth landing, Shoma's spin speed, watch how those subtle, not so obvious things matches to the music, no less, no more, just has to be there.

I think I really like this program.

You read my mind, I noticed that in all the pics from The Ice and those buff arms already claimed a victim (Nathan’s wrist ). I wonder why he would think he needs stronger arm muscles, other skaters seem to have pretty thin arms.
