Satoko MIYAHARA - The ICE 2018
https://youtu.be/WJDUcn_HpEw

Wow!! As usual her musicality is really amazing. I'm never let down by one of her programs and I think this will really grow through the season. It's a really dramatic piece which is so different from her usual style. Go Satoko!

Regarding the jumps (take this with a grain of salt as it's based on the youtube video, not live. Also I'm not a professional lol):

Going frame-by-frame on the 3Lz reveals that her prerotation has really improved. Now she takes off with less of the blade touching the ice and is in fact off the ice before the 1/2 rotation mark whereas she used to be still on the ice at 1/2 rotation. Regarding the landing, it is still about 1/4 short but that's to be expected this early in the year. On the 2T after she still uses about 1/2 prerotation but again, it's still very early.

The 2A was very floaty and beautiful. I don't think she has many problems with this jump to begin with since her 2A+3T is so consistent but it seems higher and slower rotation than before. (3A incoming??? lol maybe still a bit out of reach but definitely should encourage more GOEs)

The 3F was also very nice. Her edge is definitely correct but the toepick technique is still a bit different than the 3Lz. She uses a bit more of the blade here and prerotates to about 1/2 rotation. The landing is not so clear on video but it looks clean! It's really admirable she appears to have really improved and she hasn't even competed yet!

WOW!!! Another program I'm looking forward to watching evolve over the season, I see Tiny Queen is starting to bring some sexiness out and I love that dress!

Just finished watching the video. It's obviously not complete but contained parts of a group number where Satoko was wearing the white & silver outfit with cabaret style hairband and used a hula hoop for prop. The Never Enough segment with Alina & Mirai in white dresses was also shown ~ 1:06:41.

I also love both of her dresses, such nice contrast and both unique and befitting of the music. Someone mentioned that the tango medley contains Verano Porteno & Adiós Nonino, along with Invierno Porteno.

Really looking forward to the progression of both programs in the new season!

I just watched Satoko´s FS. Breathtaking!!! Dazzling choreography by Tom Dickson, so many gorgeous details all over the program. The quality Satoko skates is unbelievable. And ain´t her jumps a little bit higher, I wish.

Someone just uploaded the full show. Satoko's FS is at 28:55

I haven't had a chance to watch the full show so am not sure of the exhibition and other parts.

Going to enjoy the show now.

gorgeous!!!! i love everything about this program, if its this good now cant wait to see how it will be at the end of the season, unsurprisingly another masterpiece from Tom :luv17:

and final group number with Alina and Mirai might be the 1st time i saw her do ina bauer

Satoko's FP is my favourite program among Ladies' so far. I've already rewatched it a few times and this is only off-season show debut! Can't wait what she does with it in a few months. Absolutely beautiful choreography!

I love both of Satoko's new programs, especially the SP so much! I am always amazed when I see how much polish they have even this early in the season. I do feel like the PR has become a lot less and I am really happy to see that her hard work is paying off! I hope our Tiny Queen has an amazing season! Very excited for US Classic now!!! :hap10:

This Kansai skaters special also aired today
https://twitter.com/main120312031/status/1025627919383650309

They're showing footage of Dai Takahashi training and then they ask Satoko "What do you think of his training?" and she giggles and says "We train together every day so you might probably even see me in those videos" and then she giggles some more :luv17: well she does have quite a special training partner these days.

Thanks, ioanna. Hope you don't mind me adding this funny captioned pic of Satoko's response to the question:
"Miyahara-senshu, what do you think of this footage of Takahashi-senshu practicing?"
Tiny Queen: I don't need to see the footage, (insert word*), I was there! :laugh2:
*you have been warned

Iguana also made a gif of Satoko's FS opening pose. Great calisthenics move to tone your abs and arms .

Iguana's tweet: "Considering the reports i've read this should be her new EX, Kurios from Cirque du Soleil." Really looking forward to that one! I wonder if she is going to use the hula hoop as part of the program or was that just for the group number?

The hula hoop was just for the group number, the other girls had one too.

I saw her two performances of The Ice thanks to the videos that your have posted I must say that I'm glad she is testing new things, this style fits her well, I knew that I will not be disappointed her two programs are masterpieces I cant no wait to see them in competition so that they are even better.

The LP reminds me his program on Poeta (the first I saw of her) we can say that there has been a lot of improvement since then, she comes out of her comfort and is no longer the little girl of before, I hope she will keep her costumes for the competition.

Regarding her jumps layout I'm waiting to see in competition condition to judge better but I think it's interesting that she tries to turn in her natural direction.

Is it me or does her 3Lz have more spring and height to it? Still not sure about replacing the loop with a flip...

I worried I'm a weird only one who noticed similar thing...If there are more of us, then probably we are right:laugh::laugh:

Satoko as usual saves the day with some 'new' musical choices and types of program for her that already feel fitting in viewers' eyes - she looks much more mature in terms of presentation without looking old, generic and forgettable; from outlook/styling through choreography and interpretation, everything is just so well and harmoniously put together. It really amazes me how quick Satoko integrates choreography into her way of movement and vice versa - how naturally her style is empowering any piece of music and choreography she has. The flow she has, control over every little detail in her body movement, musicality, delicacy with power are just a joy to watch; her skating is just an amazing experience from every angle, yes - jumps are not the biggest, but she keeps working on them.

I can see she is working very hard to improve her jumps. She always did. Sometimes she gets that 3Lz around, other times she doesn't. Perhaps the URs are more likely to appear when she's nervous, like she said. I don't expect her jumps to ever get noticeably bigger, just enough to rotate them. That is what I hope for her this season.

Her new programs give her a chance to improve her projection to the audience and she has time to develop them. Hopefully a rise in PCS will follow.
