2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I don‘t see Anna as a flutzer. Her edge is slight outside most of the time, sometimes flat. It’s not a Yuna-esque deep outside edge but it’s tolerable. I wouldn‘t say it‘s blatantly inside. Of course that could change when she grows or jumps 4Lz but for now I wouldn‘t say she has a flutz.

I agree, she does not have an obvious inside, like Evgenia does. Hopefully it will improve with time, Anna is such a beautiful ice feather :luv17:

I've heard that Kostornaya's programs were made by Tutberidze, at least partially. Maybe it was the case with Anna's programs too. Daniil is quite young choreographer and Eteri is very authoritarian - so I wouldn't be surprised about it.

That would explain a lot of things.

Keep in mind that Eteri has a degree in choreography, so she actually might be a better choreographer than Daniil.

Kanysheva has apparently skated very well according to fso. Hopefully we’ll hear more soon about the other girls.

Update from Irishkin on fso
All excellent roll, Kanysheva, Sinitsyna, Tarusina last year's programs.

Girls at Test Skates:
Kostyuk, Kanysheva, Sinitsyna, Tarusina, Tarakanova, Vasilyeva, Moroz, Chistyakova, Shcherbakova, Trusova, Gulyakov, Kostornaya.

Any news about the 4A yet? I‘m really curious on how Tarakanova does after her coach change. And Shcherbakova and Kostornaya of course and her 4Lz and 3A respectively. This is making me anxious. Hope we‘ll get news soon!

A few reports have emerged on FSO (apparently test skates were semi open). I’ll post them in full when I get home but to be brief.
1. Tarakanova’s SP is Tango themed. Apparently she looks very good! Confident/clean jumps and great skating.
2. Trusova, Shcherbakova, and Sisnytsina have Lutz-loop combos. The rest have Lutz-Toes. All juniors placed their combo last.
3. Trusova looked very good! Had a huge 2A!
4. Kostornaya skated well but had an iffy landing on her Lutz toe combo. Also the music cuts for her Sp are apparently not great. (I believe the wording used was did Daniil take an axe to the music!!)
5. Shcherbakova was also good (lutz loop combo successfully completed) however she stumbled on her footwork - not sure if she actually fell on it or not.
6. Chistyakova and Moroz had major jump issues.
7. Tarusina, Kostyuk, Kanysheva, Sisnitsyna all went clean. (Can’t remember any comments about Vasilieva or Gulyakova)
8. The Panova girls are all reusing their short programs (so is Tarusina)
9. Gubanova was not there.

Videos from last year were definitely not available online, and I don't recall seeing protocols. So probably not.
The test skates are normally not even scored, so there are no protocols. This is the first season they decided to use scoring, but I doubt formal protocols exist, let alone get released. And there are no videos either.

Thanks a lot!

1. So, Tango for Tarakanova? Interesting choice but I think it‘ll match her really well! Very reliving that she looks good, let‘s hope for a great FS!
2. Combo placed last for every junior? Wow. That‘s risky.
3. I would not be surprised at all if that huge 2A was an indicator for a 3A later to be shown by Sasha.
4. Iffy landing as in two-footed or more the Radionova-way like just rough but still technically clean? I just wonder why Alena didn‘t include 3Lz-3Lo in her SP? Hasn‘t she done it before? I‘m kinda scared about the music cuts, though. Daniil what is it with you lately and the rough music cuts?
5. Good for the lutz-loop combo, shame for the mistake on the footwork.
I‘m skipping the others because I don‘t know anything about them and jump to 9. What is going on with Gubanova?? :(

Maybe she’s going to the senior skates instead...where she belongs ;)

Maybe. I’d be very happy if that was the case but I somehow have a weird feeling. Let‘s just hope I‘m wrong and she‘s fine, healthy and ready to slay in seniors! Even though I‘d be sad to not see her in the JGP Linz. Selfish, I know.

What??? NOOOOOOOOOOOO:tantrum:

We have to wait and see. Even though axe murdering the music cuts certainly doesn’t sound very encouraging, I agree. Come on, Daniil, stop trolling us.

It's not the first time she
struggled with the Lutz.
She had a fall in a Russian competition during her SP this year but managed to come back and win with her FP.
I don't think she'll mess up on the JGP

:

I’m very excited by her musical choices so I just can’t wait to see her skate. Wherever that may be.

Not sure if this is accurate but it shows the new music choices for lots of the Russian girls including Gubanova.

Looking at how many pieces are used in both Arena and Sasha’s programs makes me kind of nervous that we are going to get lots of music cuts :eeking:
