She most likely has to face Shcherbakova, Trusova, or Kostornaya if she has one event (unless they go against each other) and MUST face one if she has two (same caveat). Can she really beat them? I don't think so, especially not with losing out on training time due to boot problems. She has a better chance to establish herself as a senior through the Rostelecom spot rather than losing to Eteri's girls two seasons in a row. That won't set her up well for the next season when they all move up, and of course, the JGP will be no easier that year with three new Eteri girls coming up.
This is the Fed's decision, not Gubanova's. Maybe she wants the host spot but they won't make a move. So tired of seeing the skaters personally blamed for the Fed's decisions, whether it be assignments, scores, etc.

topic: But I have always wondered this: What happens if you don't know who your father is or if he's chosen not to be part of your life? Can you use your Grandfather's or a step parents? Is there a generic replacement? Most English surnames have their roots in jobs (Miller, Baker, Smith, Tanner, Wright) or Place names. For example my last name comes from an English dukedom (which is now extinct and a place). So could you be say Alexei Rostovitch (like being from Rostov?) I don't know if that makes any sense at all.
