Anna Shcherbakova

So, I just saw it. What's with the tech panel? UR 4Lz? That's even less justified than with Trusova. Unclear edges on flips? What? I just don't understand. Beside the fall, this was technical perfection, she was more confident and less nervous, which is remarkable after the first fall. I know she still won clearly, but it really seems like someone is trying to lower the scores unjustly.
Anna, you are a hero.:agree:

Exactly. But it doesn't matter that much, GJPF is secured, that it most important.. :yahoo:

But it should be "Scherbakova", that's how she and also her parents write their names on vk.com.. ;)

We have this easier, we can transcribe "Щ" into czech easily as "šč" :)

It is, but what happens next, if this trend will continue. After all, the JGP final takes place in Vancouver again.

M/G also got a call where there was no UR. Judges really needed glasses!
First Sasha's quad than Anya's...

What’s really telling is that Stephen Gogolev’s 4Lz and 4T were called clean and Anna’s 4Lz was called UR...even though Stephen prerotates just as much/even more. So it can’t be the PR that caused the < call, it’s most likely just Skate Canada being Skate Canada.

Also worth mentioning: Look at the other programs in the ladies’ segment. There were plenty of jumps which merited a UR call more than Anna’s 4Lz. If the only jump in You Young’s free that was called < was the one that should’ve been called << while all the actual URs were called clean, Anna’s 4Lz should definitely have been considered clean. (I am still a little salty.)

It would even have made more sense to call that 4Lz as (!) than to call it as (<).

no it won't. Because her edge on the 4Lz is more deeper than on the 3Lz.
neither of these calls would make any sense.

Yes, her edge is outside enough for a Lutz, but I can see how it could probably be considered (!). I don’t think it should be called (!), but at a bad angle, it’s possible. Meanwhile for UR I really can’t see how anyone could make that call.

She really improved a lot in between the JGP stages when it comes to delivery of the programs. There also were some good things that she said, like her training having gone very well, and 4Lutz becoming much more stable in just 3 weeks. It makes me very hopeful for the JGPF in 3 months! I hope that she can continue improving at a similar pace. And hopefully land the quad clean, eventually. What makes me worried are the bogus UR call on 4Lutz and bogus ! calls on the Flips. I hope that they won't try to sabotage her scoring. Lenient calls would be one thing, but it really isn't cool to forge incorrect calls just to put her down.

It can't "depend on the angle" like that. The rules state when it's unclear(due to poor camera angle), ruling should be in favor of the skater.

I think her jump quality will improve with some time if she puts on more muscle in her legs.

I saw somewhere mentioning that the difficulty of the 3lz+3lo in her short program was also to do with the time difference/jet lag - yes, Vancouver is quite some time difference from Moscow, so I can see how jet lag could have affected her a little. Hopefully they get the message to fly in a bit earlier for JGPF [emoji28]

Who wouldn't worry... honestly, I'd prefer Anna not to jump quads, with her artistry, she doesn't need to, she can be better than anyone else even without quads... well, maybe except Tiny Boss...

Well, not with the judges’ stupid underscoring of Anna’s PCS

Well after all, when I was watching her warmup in Bratislava, she jumped one 3lz+3lo combo after another without any difficulty...

"because All the training sessions went well, perhaps it relaxed me a little."

looks like she relaxed a little bit too much.
