I think he normally ony does one competition in the summer (?).

I don't know about other seasons, but he did compete at Minto and the Skate Ontario Summer Skate last year.

He'd better show up today though! I'll have a fit if I have to wait until ACI to see his new programs.

I don't recognize the girl, but I'd say she's a fellow skater judging by her quad muscles and the fact that she knows how to do a pair lift.

Her name is Lilika Zheng, a fellow YRSA skater, junior-level in singles.

ETA: On a serious note, I sincerely hope Roman is OK, and not suffering from any kind of a serious injury. Also hope missing both of his summer competitions won't jeopardize his assignments to ACI and SC. I seem to recall Skate Canada's eligibility requirements for international assignments including "showing readiness" at a summer competition.

Me too. It also doesn't help that Roman hasn't said anything on social media as to why he withdrew from both of his summer comps, torturing us even further.

OMG, thank you so much for finding that video! Just when I thought he couldn't get any more adorable, he busts out Carly Rae Jepsen. According to the Personal Details of his Skate Canada page, Roman is now 6'1", so he's the same height as Nic. We'll see what his ISU bio says, if anyone can be bothered to update it.

I see that on Roman's ISU bio ( http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00014082.htm ) that he's now 184 cm, so he's actually closer to 6' 1/2", and he's 1 cm shorter than Nic.

The second piece of music in his LP is Rachmaninoff's "Prelude in C-sharp minor (Bells of Moscow)," which some fans have already guessed based on the clues in his vlog.

I had asked in the ACI competition thread if anyone has any news about Roman, but so far there's nothing.

It's all sounding really positive. And we can see for ourselves first thing tomorrow morning - Skate Canada will be streaming the men's practice tomorrow on their dailymotion channel!

Wow, that does sound great! :yes: I know I should try to keep my expectations in check because he's wildly inconsistent in competition, but I really want my princeling to shine this season!

I'm disappointed that SC hasn't archived the Thursday men's practice sessions. :disapp: I couldn't watch the livestream because of work, so naturally I couldn't make a screen recording of Roman's program.

The good news is that SC uploaded today's practice session for the men (although yesterday's is still missing ), but because the archived footage is 1080p, it will take a long while for me to download the file. Roman's SP practice will probably only be available on one of my Vimeo accounts after the Men's SP is over, but at least the quality will be excellent!

I'm so happy for Roman earning a Personal Best score in the SP! Although each of his jumping passes had a mistake, his artistry has grown even more beautiful! He looks so much more grown-up and mature compared to last season, and you can see that in his skating here. It was my hope that he would be the top Canadian man at this event, and he might just pull it off!

I agree with Ted Barton that Roman is a spectacular skater and Debbi Wilkes' opinion that he has become a leading man. :luv17:

Thank you so much for uploading the video siberia82! It was such a pleasure to watch Roman's performance again. He did an amazing job for the first time out this season. :yes2: Mama Bear is very pleased and and very proud. It's so nice to see that gorgeous ease coming back into his skating. DW did a wonderful job with the program too, highlighting Roman's natural elegance and musicality. No, none of the jumping passes were clean, but it's obvious he knows what he needs to do, so that will get cleaned up as the season goes on. I can't wait to see his FP tomorrow. It looks deliciously dramatic from the snippets he posted.

:agree: I was super impressed by his skate today. I’m a relatively new fan of Roman (having “discovered” him at Canadian nationals last season), but he’s quickly becoming one of my favorite up and coming skaters. He has such great potential, with wonderful skating skills, athleticism, style, and (IMO) star quality.
