Alina Zagitova

Random thoughts on SP

Alina really looked beautiful out there today in every sense of the word.

It was very exciting to see the top four all perform so brilliantly - it is so early in the season.

I hope they all carry this forward to the LP.

The judges obviously didn't care about the music cuts as much as we all did.
Why should they - it is the actual skating that matters.

Also a big :agree: to Eteri for doing her best to be "warm and fuzzy" +3 GOE from this judge.

I thought last season was Zagi glo-up. Well this season is Zagi glo-up 2.0 [emoji75][emoji75][emoji23]
(Sorry about the teenage expression^ ) [emoji23]

What a day! I love Alina's new dress, and just started to really like (even love!) her new SP. And what I love the most is that she managed to deliver a clean skate right after those stepouts she had during the final practice - she is a brave girl! Her technical abilities are still just awsome. Maybe even better. At the beginning of the previous season Alina couldn't jump a clean 2A right after the Charlotte spiral, so her coaches abandoned it. And now she's doing it!! For me it was the most breathtaking element of her whole skate :luv17:

What a beautiful young lady she's grown into!

My browser won't let me open this website.

Could some kind soul summarize the interview for me?

Thanks.

Olympic champion Alina Zagitova leads after a short program at the tournament in Oberstdorf. After the rent with the student Eteri Tutberidze, correspondent Tatiana Flade spoke.

Alina, how do you estimate your first start, the first hire in the new season?

- I appreciate it normally, because I felt a little stiff. But I think it will pass with time. I will continue to work.

In training you looked very good, confidently rolled the program.

- But training and speaking are different things. In training, you need to show even more than how you can ride at the start, more than your maximum. And at the competitions, the rental can be both for the better, and not for the best in comparison with what it showed in training. It depends on how you meet. We must be able to assemble.

"Were you very worried about going out on the ice?"

-- Yes. But it normal. Everyone is worried. If you do not worry before the start, then, probably, you are not an athlete.

You went to the ice last. Did it add to the nervousness?

- I love the last starting number, I like the last to go out on the ice. It's so calmer for me. But it's not in the starting number. I just like to skate.

This is your first competition after a long break. Was it hard to plunge into this competitive atmosphere again, fight?

- I missed these competitive feelings, adrenaline, because in life I do not have enough. At competitions it all splashes out and it immediately becomes easier for me.

Those are, with impatience waited for this start?

-- Yes. Before the start of the season there were small difficulties, like every athlete. After two weeks of vacation it was necessary to work out the form, restore the elements, adapt to the new body, to everything. I have everything new in this season - programs, images, and it was necessary to get used to it.

What do you like most about the new image in the new short program?

- This is a completely different image for me. At first I did not understand him at all. Even when the "Phantom of the Opera" looked, the soul did not perceive it, could not live. But the coaches helped me, explained, and every gesture became meaningful, not just a raised hand, I began to delve into what this means. I like everything in this program. I'm not used to saying much, what exactly I like. I will say this: I just really like figure skating. Also I like to skate. I like my program.

"Have you grown much in the summer?"

- For the summer only a couple of centimeters, and after the Olympics, five centimeters.

Perhaps this was the reason for failure at the World Championships in Milan?

- In Milan, everything was superimposed. And mandatory events after the Olympic Games, receptions, which needed to be walked. And preparation for the World Cup. I also got sick after my return from Korea. She kept herself all season, did not allow to relax, and then immediately let go and fell ill. Fatigue and stress made themselves felt.

How did you set yourself up after the force majeure, when a week ago I could not fly to Bratislava?

- I already had such a case at the finals of the junior Grand Prix, when I had to fly the next day too because of the documents. And this experience, oddly enough, came in handy. Now I already knew how to set myself up. I thought only of the good, the preparation for the start. And it helped.

Watched it live last night! The dress is so gorgeous! The dress even made the StSq and Choreo look much better too!

I wasn't a fan of the SP choreo during The Ice, but she made the movements smoother. I hoped she held the Ina Bauer for longer though. Other than that, a new WR! Near her usual 80 point mark!

Hope she goes clean tonight! Best of luck! Rooting for you

Lol, Canada Judge gave Goe +2/3 to all 2A exept Alina, this not being strict, it is insane. shame on him. She had most difficult entry on 2A in this competition and this season. Judge 4 need to get call from ISU

That Canadian judge Ms. Nicole LEBLANC-RICHARD, gave Alina +1, +2 , couple +3 and just one +4 vs. other judges, who gave her +3, +4 and even +5, considering that there was no Russian judge. I think Canadian judge is rooting for Orser, does not want his reputation to go down, I don't think she cares about Medvedeva.

I don’t think there’s a big conspiracy here.

Judge 4 was just grumpy

Maybe she needed a cuddle... Alina will take care of you Judge 4 and you’ll be purring in no time.

Canadian judges in general are pretty strict and don’t love giving out big GOEs (unless it’s their own skaters at nationals). Also events in Canada seem to have wonky scores?! ACI this year and Skate Canada (I don’t remember what year). It makes me a little weary since the GPF is in Vancouver this year but I’m sure Alinka will still be on top.

Someone on twitter said it best, last year she was “Princess Zagitova” and now she’s ascended the throne to “Queen Zagitova” :)

I do however, think the StSq needs to be edited to actually match the music notes. The steps are very busy, but I just can't feel that it matches the music so well. But then again the music cut is still bad.. so...

However, there are very few ladies who can do clean SPs like Alina, so I'm still expecting a WR score again during GP season, because of Alina's consistency and high BV.

Yeah.. 3" = 7.5 cm.

That's not a lot of inches for a 15 / 16 year old basketball player but that's a lot of inches in centimeters for a 15 / 16 year old female figure skater. It looks like a Lena thank God has kept her technical ability and jumping even with growing 3 inches this year.
