Alina Zagitova

Her Carmen was good. But it seemed like she had a stiff back the whole time.. I think she needs to work on her crossover posture to make it look more elegant and she will be good to go for GPF.

Again, I didn't watch Alina live because I have anxiety disorder and as soon as she stepped on ice I closed the stream because I was on the edge of a crisis :laugh2: then I regretted not watching because she did so well.

I’m so happy that everything went well. And the haters, as always, losing their minds :rolleye: they’re really butthurt that she didn’t fail so they can’t say “she’s over, I told you so”. Every tongue that rises up against our Alina shall fall

I love the dress too, I would just add something to her hair. It would be a good effect.

Agreed. That's Carmengitova. :hap10: :hap10:

Alina has great make up skills. Probably thanks to Eteri requiring all her girls to come to practice with make up.

Why is Alina's knee and ankle all taped up? :sad21:

Her knee is probably because she has Osgood Schlatters disease.
I remember the knees being bandaged at her ice shows back in April even.

I don't know about the ankle, though. :scratch2:

I was just watching the program again. (for the 449th time I admit) And what I find the most exciting are the transitions.
The transitions - the entries and exits - in between every element are truly BREATHTAKING.
The second half is truly a display of an impossible technical dare which only someone like Alina would have the guts to attempt.
For all the talk of the juniors driving the technical game, look at Alina over here leading the trend of extreme transitions and back-to-back passes.
This girl is still LEADING THE PACK.

What a legendary technician...

Wonder if Shiseido did her make up?

Her opening expression imitating Carmen was really in character. For me that opening was the best part.

I'd hoped her problems with Osgood Schlatter were over. :( All the top skaters seem to have gone through terrible injuries. Poor Alina.

I'm going to cheer myself with another picture of Alina's eternal collar problem.

I don't know how long she has had it.

I had it (though I don't think it was named back then) when I was 12 or 13.
I'm pretty sure it lasted about a year.

Alina's collar issues - legendary.

How about today when she got the medal caught up in the trophy.

Loena is trying to keep from laughing.

Things were much easier last year in France when all she got was a plastic star.

Off Topic - but I saw that Eteri's daughter won a bronze medal in Ice Dance at the JGP.

Pretty decent day for Eteri.

To be fair, it was a HUGE star, so big that I started to feel bad for Maria and Kaetlyn because their stars were tiny. She also got a watch and flowers. You can see Alina trying to juggle her winnings during the victory ceremony.

But yes, it was easier than Nebelhorn. Someone did not think that huge silver trophy through.

Go Diana!

Not entirely off topic. Diana's good friends with Alina. They appear in a lot of photos and videos together and Alina has borrowed her clothes a bunch of times.

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I think that plastic star just got a best friend. She was dancing with that huge trophy, I bet she won’t let go of it for quite a while. See her chatting with Mai, who was so nice to her, was extra sweet too.

Small aside about Osgood Schlatter it kinda resolves itself out, btw Nathan Chen had it too, but Alina is super good at taking care of herself I’m sure the exercise tape has a lot to do with prevention too. On her ankles I’m sure it has to do with her new boots, she had the tape there in Japan too.

Wow - if they made the "3rd place" star any smaller, Kaetlyn could have worn it on a charm bracelet.

That trophy was something else.
It may have been in error - I think it was supposed to be for another "Zagitova" in the winner's circle.

These skaters are warriors.
