Anna Shcherbakova

She was truly amazing but the 2nd 4Lz looked like UR to me.

Her FS TES was above 90 points.

It looked like a borderline 90 degree UR to me in real time, so I just went off what her protocol said. It could definitely have been called UR if the tech panel was stricter, though.

ANNA!!! :eeking::eeking:
I was hoping for a clean 4Lz. And Here you are! Just did two 4LZ. one in a combo.!
And both of them fully rotated! (the second quad lutz was definitely rotated enough). I rewatched them frame by frame.
WOW!

Someone on Instagram said that they watched the K&C, and Anna said to Daniil that the +3T and second 4Lz was a spontaneous decision.

Can someone who speaks Russian please confirm? :p

no, it's never "a spontaneous decision."

I like how they fully broke down the scoring numbers on screen so you can see exactly how she scored for each element.

Considering that it was her senior version of the free - with added choreo sequence and extra quad - it's easy to notice how much her free was remade. I am hard-pressed here to decide which version of the free is better artistically - this or previous from Richmond? I like them both of course but previous one was somewhat better put in musical accents while this one have better step sequence plus choreo.. hmm
Of course I am tremendously excited and glad about her quads but there were people who thought that quads are not meant for her highly artistical, musical and fragile skating and even can harm her interpretation and flow of the program. What are they thinking now - comparing two versions of the program, I wonder? :rolleye:

Daniil: "We've decided that if Shcherbakova can't land one quad lutz, we'll let her do two. There is a bigger chance of her getting it right that way".

It was Daniil's joke, btw

Well, personally I don't think that her artistry suffered so much after adding the quads. Also, she still puts her soul into the non-jumping parts and I liked it. The only thing that was bothering me was her looking tired and not able to gain so much speed. They should work on her stamina. But still, that was an awesome skate. Well done, Anna!

So incredible! Of course, the day I am not at home this happens. Oh well, I'll take it!

I was so happy seeing her skating such a program almost clean. I was quite surprised that she decided to add the second quad but I guess I shouldn't be. Who knows what we're going to see in the future? This already surpassed my expectations! At this point, I'll just prepare to see 2 4Lz, 2 3As and a 4T at the junior worlds.

I was especially impressed by her not breaking the performance despite landing the quads. Just about anyone else would have. It signifies immense amounts of confidence and respect!
