Yulia Lipnitskaya

Yulia's Sochi Team Event LP has now reached over 10 million views. Moscow Standard Time would be around 2AM on October 14th(7PM EST on October 13th).

If I can figure out how to work Kdenlive, I got a cool idea to mark the occasion.

As it turns out, Telesport will not be broadcasting Grand Prix events this year. :( Denis Alkhazov has written in his twitter that "the reasons are mundane, boring and business-related". People guess that this is because the "1st Channel", who now owns rights for broadcasting the GP events, doesn't want to share them with anyone. The funniest thing is that the "1st Channel" is obviously going to show only scraps of them, and, for example, doesn't announce Skate America in their TV program at all. Dogs in the manger. :bang:

This means that we will see competitions with Yulia's comments not earlier than the second half of the season (at the very best...)

Bring back Sunny Lipnitskaya Commentary!!!!

If Yulia has a major role in Nutcracker.2 as promised, she will benefit from shaping her character without other activity. The Nutcracker from last year had only one major female role. Unless they make major changes, she will get half of that role. There will be a lot to learn in just two months. In the past Yulia has created her performances by immersing herself in the music, gradually she merged with it. Therein lies her magic. I hope she has enough time and space for that approach with Nutcracker.

I’m getting all shook just thinking about it :dbana:

Yulia will always be one of my fave figure skaters of all time. :luv17:

After the way scoring changed I didn't really watch much figure skating after that (I only watched curling during the 2010 Olympics), but she got me interested in figure skating again. I remember seeing her for the first time at the Sochi Olympics; she was so mesmerizing. I was so sad when I heard she had retired. I miss her competing, but I am so glad she is going to be skating again. I love the Nutcracker! She is going to be great! :yahoo:

Elena’s beautiful words about Yulia

I don’t remember the year but it was Russian Nationals, I think. And I didn’t know I was going to be friends with her then, but it felt like I just saw… an angel [smiling]. At the same time, she looked like a very strong person – with a big heart also.

It’s taken from a great interview which also sheds light on the future and past of the Academy. These are very special people doing a very good thing. I hope their motivation can take them far.

That's beautiful and all, but I have this awful feeling that they're going to steal the story of this friendship and turn it into season two of that horrid anime. :rolleye:
