The opinion of one highly biased GS poster is not going to be taken into account by the Japanese fed.

I would be happy to see either Sima or Alena there. But then, my opinion means nothing either.

I doubt it.

Like any of those.
They can invite a korean because its cheaper to travel to that GP, or they can try inviting someone who already has another spot because they are nice.

 Did you mean she already has a spot at NHK? Because she already got assigned to NHK when Dabin dropped out (:()

Oh really I did not know that. People just posted today that she got added just this day on NHK. Did not know she is replacing Dabin. Well then Elena's missed spot is still open

I'm sad for Radionova ... I know that is almost impossible but I would love that she was replace buy Pogo ... Well I girl can dream

Folks, it is the start of the season, October! Evgenia has time to improve! I really believe it's too early to think she became much worse. Plus Orser predicted this unsuccesful season if I right remember.

There is this thing. Remember how good Zhenya was last year? Despite injury, Olympic pressure and everything.
I understand that he wants to improve things. But throwing everything out and then starting from blank is not always the best improvement strategy, specially in FS where the time flies.
Every bad competition = reputation loss.

Ok people Brian has taught many skaters and knows what he’s doing. And changing her technique is crucial if she want to jump quads or whatever cause with her old Olympic season technique she wasn’t going anywhere... just loosing height and damaging her back as she grew. If the legs dont have strength, more pressure transfers to the spine. So in the meantime while she’s adjusting, overcoming muscle memory and getting used to new training style, we can only wish her well and support her in this new journey.

She has mathematical chances to get a medal, I'm not worried about that. I hope Orser knows how to motivate and encourage Zhenya to just forget about it. This could have happened to anyone.

She's looked great in practice, and I've never seen this type of mistake from her, ever.

The only question mark I have is that this sort of mistake is typical of Orser female skaters (Daleman, Tursynbayeva before going back to Eteri).

Lil Bet made the same mistakes she always has last night with Eteri.

Going to orser is not kinda worth it for zhenya, look at daleman and tursynbayeva the two havent achieve much when they were with orser,i know he was an amazing coach but women is not kinda working for him(except yuna)zhenya is already a great skater she just need to polish her techniques but waiting for a good result to happened like a year or two is a joke, lets be honest here zhenyas TES cannot even compete with alina and eteri's juniors,so i dont know whats gonna happened to her only time will tell, anyway wishing her Goodluck on the free skate.

I find it somewhat interesting that the same people who praise Liza for her comeback and strong showing are also saying Zhenya is done (witnessed a lot of that in Twitter). Liza was struggling in 2016 and 2017, in 2018 she is still not done and is doing fabulously. Zhenya is nowhere near finished. ;)

I actually can’t see Zhenya not medalling, only if she bombs the FS very hard which is unlikely to happen.

I actually went back and watched some of her old competitions and practices from 2014-2017 and was really surprised to see how effortless and high her jumps were before growth/injuries/pressure all compounded last year and made everything look muscled and slow. She was a more impressive jumper as a junior than scherbakova is on her triples, which I didn’t remember from watching her back in the day.

Honestly she had so many good qualities that I’m not surprised they never bothered to fix her jumps—if she wasn’t injured last year she may still have been able to jump like worlds 2017 level, which was very serviceable. And I don’t think she grew so much from 2017 to 2018 that the technique would’ve completely degraded if she were healthy. Most coaching teams who have a skater immediately soar to the top probably wouldn’t go around messing with technique when everything is working and winning, even if the technique isn’t ideal.

Even her stroking and ice coverage looked much better in 2017 than last season. So I don’t know how much of the improvement we’re seeing this season is due to different coaching and how much is due to just being healthy. I’m sure Brian has helped, but if we compare to 2017 levels I see a much smaller improvement than some people are raving about.

The technique on the axel and toe jumps have improved, but in competition it will take some time to fully integrate them. I noticed in her practice run-throughs from past seasons the jumps also looked more effortless than in the actual competition slate.
