Jeff Buttle's Programs this season are incredible!!!

Loved his straight line footwork and the choreography was just amazing though he needs to continue working on his jumps. Many of the landings were forward and wonky. But overall, magnificent program. I think I like it more than Samson and Delilah. The music is Czech, not middle eastern right?

Apparently the music is Armenian. Not usually my favorite style for skating either, but Buttle makes it work in spades.

The Armenian pieces is from Mt. Ararat ( I was at work when writing this message - lighting in the office is not great - I was positive I wrote Ararat - anyway I have corrected my mistake) - by Canadian director - Atom Egyoan - It's about the Armenian genocide. One can hear the drama of the suffering of the Armenian people in the music and I think Jeff captures the feeling when he skates. It is inspiring.

Skating As It Should Be - Jeff Buttle

Jeff's programs have already been discussed, but I just wanted to add that watching Jeff skate both his programs so brilliantly was just absolutley inspiring. It was figure skating as it should be.

As Tracy Wilson observed Jeff brought a difficult piece of music to life. Not many skaters would be able to skate to that type of music. He caught the essence of the music and portrayed the drama magnificently. One could feel the suffering of the Armenian people. It brought tears to my eyes.

Well done Jeff and David Wilson.

The movie is Ararat and Jeff said that it's also a tribute to Rafeal Arturiaian (sorry about the spelling, but I always manage to mess his name up), as Rafeal is of Armenian heritage.

I was spellbound by both programs and given some more time to work on his jumps...Worlds is going to be interesting indeed.

And I haven't seen his LP. Maybe you could post it (here or in the Canadian Nationals Vids thread)? The SP is there. It's brilliant - if he can just hit that triple axel. The footwork is fabulous. Wonderful jazz music - what is it? What a wonderful return.

While "making others feel the suffering of the Armenian people" might be overstating it a bit (or else I'm just not sensitive enough), he did (from reports; I was not in the arena) interpret music that is not necessarily immediatley accessible to a Westen ear, in such a way that they could feel something... that in itself is a remarkable ability, regarless of whether there's a successful "war-tribute"on top of that.

Jeff's LP is purely magic. I don't care about jumps (unless they're falls, lol - cause falls do ruin the impression) when I see such a choreographic masterpiece. The circular step sequence is just magnificent, I'd never believe one could put so much emotions into a "required" element.
I definitely like this program more than Samson& Delilah but not sure about Naqoiqatsi which is my favourite Men's LP.
I can't wait to see Jeff skating it at Worlds. My only hope will be he skates it clean - quad, no quad, whatever levels - because I believe it belongs to art if the skate does justice to the choreography.

But certainly I wouldn't mind seeing Jeff on the podium (or even on top)

I wish we lived closer to the Canadian border in order to watch the TV coverage of Canadian Nationals. Thank goodness for youtube! What a treat to watch both of Jeff's programs for this season. I hope he does really well at Worlds! !
