2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Alina! What a fighter  What are Konstantinova's chances in france? Someone said she could get silver but I really don't see that happening...

Konstantinova's URs not getting called was downright criminal. Everyone got UR calls even Alina but her

Not to mention giving Konstantinova +1.29GOE on her laboured, small 3F with a helicopter tano, while Alina got +1.19GOE and although it was perfect.

Stasya did very well today, though. I don‘t necessarily agree with the scores but credit where credit is due. It was a clean skate. Someone has to applaud her for that. Alina looked a bit more vulnerable today but still the clear leader in Russian ladies skating and probably in the world, too. Next week will be very important to determine GPF chances for some ladies.

Great job to the Russian ladies at Helsinki!

I've never been much good at catching URs, so I can't comment on that, but I think Stanislava did great and don't understand why people are so down on her.

tbh, don't understand anything at all, although I feel that this is probably a great joke :)

 same here..

I'm a native English speaker, and a fairly young one at that, and I only understand about half of it. :laughs: I agree that it looks like it's really funny if you know what it means.

Stage five preliminary entries are out:

what is Davydov doing? Samodelkina and Berestovskaya are too young for junior nationals. And Muravyeva is only doing one stage! (well, so is Kromykh) so they can't make nationals unless inserted the way Shcherbakova was last year

none of team Eteri in seniors. Relatively weak field so far with Tarusina, Sinitsyna, Gubanova, Fomina, Tsibinova, Istomina, and Gracheva. Juniors a bit better than usual: Kromykh, Shabotova, Muravyeva, Kostyuk, (Samodelkina), (Berestovskaya)

Probably the same thing as whatever he was doing with Tarusina's final spin at the JGP Bratislava.

Yep, I'm still bitter :bang:

As much as it is wonderful Alina needs to be perfect all the time for herself... This might do her in. She looked obviously nervous today and was not as crisp as always. She is receiving Olympic winner PCS... but if she continues to skate nervous, that may be starting to fade away, once judges discover another number one girl to overscore. She needs to learn to relax and just go with the flow and music...

Great job to all the Russian ladies at this weekend's GP! I will say that I think the judge panel seemed pretty lenient compared to Skate Canada (at least in my opinion). It will be interesting to see how the rest of the GPs play out as well.

Honestly - I don't know how I can watch three competitions at the same time next week - this, Russian Cup event in Kazan (Trusova, Kostornaya, Tarakanova, Pogorilaya etc.), and NHK  :scratch2: It's competitions that I wouldn't want to miss either.. ugh :drama:

You pray your favs dont skate same time, and then buy a second monitor to watch 3 streams at once.

But where will they get another Olympic Champion from to overscore? Alina has all the technical goods. She was nervous, yes but still the clear leader here at this event. I think she‘ll continue to get high PCS. She was nervous but who can blame her? Honestly, considering her grow spurth and all the pressure on her shoulders (she‘s only 16!!) she did really well today.

I don't think Alina is the one to worry about it, she still can do 210+ with big mistakes.
What you describe should be the main concern for Zhenya and her team, because right now she is russian #2, not even #1, and that #2 is very shaky.

Omg I really can't believe Konstantinova made it to second place, but congrats to her, this is the surprise of the year for me :D

I hope Zhenya improves because right now we have Liza and eeerm, Stasya?? Who look solid. Nothing against Stanislava, I like her quite a lot but she wasn’t at all who I’d have placed my bets on for this season. Big surprise. I would go bananas if Stasya beat Zhenya at Nationals. I mean; this season is crazy but that crazy ?? ZHENYA davai !! Rock IdF please🙏🏻🙏🏻

Edit: It will be interesting to see Liza next week. If she can beat the Japanese girls, she‘ll have a big, big advantage for Nationals. I‘m pretty sure we‘ll see her on the World team this year. But let‘s see with which medals she enters GPF. (Gold + ??)

I don't think we can judge by one competition. But was surprising to see Stanislava out of all people pull here a clean skate on the cursed ice.
