I don't think we can judge by one competition. But was surprising to see Stanislava out of all people pull here a clean skate on the cursed ice.

I don‘t think we can either. I was half-joking. I mean, this season IS crazy indeed but Zhenya has a month time and that mistake in the SP was a fluke, she‘d have had about 10 points more with the combo. And she‘s steely and gritty, so I think we can count on her improving and showing her best. She just has to be confident. Same for Alina. Don‘t let pressure get to you, girls!

I did notice. And I don't understand, because you must be 12 years old to skate as a junior in Russia. Unless they have changed the rules without saying anything.
BTW, Muravyeva was entered as a junior at Mordovian Ornament and was move to 1 sport despite being in 2006. So rules are not consistent anyway.

Sofia has definitely been looking strong this season so far. I would count on her more than Konstantinova. I'm excited to see her at Rostelecom by the way, i didn't even know about her but she set the ice at Skate America on fire, she has so much charisma and personality.

As much as it is wonderful Alina needs to be perfect all the time for herself... This might do her in. She looked obviously nervous today and was not as crisp as always. She is receiving Olympic winner PCS... but if she continues to skate nervous, that may be starting to fade away, once judges discover another number one girl to overscore. She needs to learn to relax and just go with the flow and music...

She was nervous but it's not like she fell. She's not going to lose her reputation over even a few unsteady skates.

since switching to another coach, with limited results so far she has fallen a bit on judges favor.
She's getting called on flutz which most people especially her detractors are happy about.

I dont think it will be such a big deal, it will be next season if we see improvements
and do they even need her with Trusova, Kostornaia, Tarakanova going seniors ?

Not sure about Scherbakova, she might stay junior for another season, she reminds me of Med
poor skating skills, bambi legs, forced flutz jump, but just a bit more expressive.

Zagitova, Tuk, Samodurova or Med
Alternative: Konstantinova

Worlds 2020
Trusova, Zagitova, Kostornaia
Alternate: Tarakanova, Med, Tuk

Shcherbakova does not flutz. Slight outside does not equal flutz. Her skating skills are much more than poor. Someone with poor skating skills, objectively, is Sofia Moroz. Her jumps are decent, but the skating skills are her area of improvement.
I can't see them holding her back if she goes to JWC and does well there. Her SB is higher than Alena's too.

Jesus, if all the 3 As all move to senior next year, a lot of current seniors will have to just stay home it's exciting (i love them) but also sad for the others but well, it's the cruelty of russian figure skating.

what's going to happen next season? there are literally too many Russian ladies in the top 24 SB so far...
Zagitova, Trusova, Tuktamysheva, Shcherbakova, Medvedeva, Kostornaya, Samodurova, Konstantinova, (Kanysheva), Tarakanova, Tarusina - that's already 10 that can do senior GP next season. Maria hasn't skated yet and if she or Polina or Leonova make it on the list, that would be up to 13. it would be so unfair if one of them had to only get 1 spot and someone behind them got 2 simply because they're from another country that doesn't do as well.

I have not heard of that either and I didn‘t quite understand it from the video? What was she supposed to get? Golden blades?

It will be interesting to see if Shcherbakova, Trusova and the other Juniors' scores at Junior Worlds align with what they received on the JGP during the senior pre-season...

Or, if and how the stricter tech panels, less generous +GOE and PCS scoring that is the 'new normal' as of the Senior Grand Prix season will impact their scores.

Saying that Alina's 216 is a 3-5th place against the scores that the Juniors have received assumes they were scored the same way Alina was...

And we don't really think that is the case.

At least at Russian nationals everyone will be judged the same way...

But if it is true that the ISU is stricter on URs and giving harsher penalties, Nationals may not yield the ranking that skaters would get at an ISU senior event...

Indeed, it seems that next year some of these skaters won't have two spots, which is a real shame. The same goes for the Japanese – this year, for example, Yuna Shiraiwa has got only one spot. An ideal solution would be a 7th GP but that's probably unrealistic...

To begin with, I think the Russian fed should expand their nationals because we're facing a scenario in which Polina Tsurskaya may not even qualify for nationals next year...
