Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Oh no. just heard about this! Poor Guillaume, so unlucky this season:(. I hope he recovers well and quickly. I am sad not to see their programmes, but I hope this means they will just have more time to wow us even more when they are able to compete!

Sad news for us fans. The bottom line is that the health of our favorites is restored as quickly as possible.
The reassuring news of the french newspaper l'Equipe:

"Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron will not be skating at the NHK Trophy in Hiroshima this week, Cizeron has made a" soft fall "in training late last week that has aroused back pain in the dancer, unable to achieve lifts and pirouettes Monday, explained the coach of the French duo, Romain Haguenauer.
dancers, vice Olympic champions in Pyeongchang in February, preferred to give up their first Grand Prix outing of the season. "Nothing serious" but a "momentary discomfort" incompatible with a long flight and a jet lag between Montreal, where they settled, and Hiroshima, said Katia Krier, Assistant DTN of the French Federation of Ice Sports.
Papadakis-Cizeron are still involved in the Grand Prix de France in two weeks, in Grenoble. However, this package will cost them their qualification at the Grand Prix final in early December in Vancouver. "

The season will be long ..... :(

Nooooooooooooooooo :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
Well, I really hope Guigui will be fine. It's by far the most important. I am so disapointed right now. First because we'll have to wait more to see the gems they've been keeping secret. Second, because they'll miss the GPF :'( But this is just the first year after the olympics. Better now than later. I just hope, like another poster mentioned, that this was not caused by some crazy lifts. P/C always had the levels without going for horribly crazy dangerous looking lifts. I'll me MAD if they get injured trying to please the masses who kept saying that had "junior" lifts :ddevil:

Ugh, I am hating this.

In my opinion they planed from the beginning to miss this year's GP competition.
Probably we see them in January on European Championship.
I am a big fan of their talent and sad waiting so long for their new programs.

Just saw the news - what a shame, but Guillaume's health is more important and it doesn't sound like it's a bad injury, just something that shouldn't be aggravated by a long flight, especially so soon in the healing process. I'm sure we'll still get to see them at IdeF.

I wish Guillaume speedy recovery and will meanwhile join Eleanor in her "Hoppin'mad"-dance, if the fall is due to pressure towards liftomania !:ddevil::ddevil:

Speedy recovery to Guillaume. Hope we see them in France in their best shape. I was really looking forward to see them but I will wait as long as it is needed.

guillaume_cizeron I am very sorry to annonce that Gabriella and I had to withdraw for the NHK grand prix in Japan this week due to an injury. I am experiencing a back pain that is keeping me from performing at a 100% of my capacities on the ice. Doctors say that it would be an unnecessary risk to travel or compete right now. Thank you for your understanding...this is a difficult decision for us to make. We wish everyone a great week at NHK and look forward to competing as soon as possible ❤️

Oh, no ☹️! I truly hope that Romain is right, and they will at least be able to compete at IdF. Me and my mother are going to Grenoble in large part because of them. First, it was also because of Carolina, but she already had to withdraw. It will be a bit too much if Gabriella and Guillaume also have to withdraw. Then it will be Evgenia, Deniss, Nathan and Jason (the other skaters that we want to see). Well, also James/Cipress. But Gabriella and Guillaume are still one of the main reasons we spent so much money for the tickets and this trip (we are from Latvia).

I know it's egotistical, and the main thing which is important is that they can recover fully for the more important competitions at the second half of the season. Still, I am hoping 🙏🏻.

P. S. : On the up side, it just clicked for me that in case if they indeed compete at IdF, we are going to see the premiere of their programs live! And that is so exciting and also a bit worrying at the same time 😲😃🙂.

Good luck! I hope it works out for you and Guillaume recovers in time to compete there :).

I think Gabi and Guillaume know that there will be many people in the same situation as you who came to Grenoble to see them so they will do their best to make it even if it is a "pointless" event -- the plane ride is shorter too :agree:

i just found a twitter post that says that "the FD music of Papadakis/Cizeron is "Duet and sunday afternoon". Choreographers are Lambiel, Dubreuil, Haguenauer (from NHK trophy booklet)". I personaly think that the music choice is amazing!!!

Oooooh, thank you!

Here's an acoustic guitar version of Sunday Afternoon (this is a live performance, so probably not the version they're using): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSGZqOQ2680

Here's Duet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGRYeGI8c0g

Really interesting choices - complex emotions, lots of tension, unusual rhythms and distinctive vocals. Can't wait to see how they've combined them!

I hope they are using the original and not an acoustic version because the intro is really nice here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mk2GqOiWHCs and this is officially the first song of her I truly like, it actually was directly added to my playlist. I already feel better. I should have known better and just blindly trust them.

As for the second one, here is a non live version too just to compare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA6wARPeK_c This one needs to grow on me, very slow but I like the meaning behind it and the incredible intimate atmosphere it creates.

Nice touch though choosing those live versions because we get a taste of what the artist meant when she wrote them thanks Harriet :thank:

Thank you so much, Charis - finally !

Also thanks a lot for the links, Harriet and cocotaffy. I too am hoping for the original version of 'Sunday Afternoon'.

Did anyone guess these? I definitely saw Duet being put forward before, but maybe that was on FSU. Anyway, Sunday Afternoon is a nice surprise. I like the mood of these pieces and I think we might be getting an FD reminiscent of To Build a Home.

Thanks for the info Charis! Guitar and cello, sounds legit. I'm listening to them on Apple Music and I find Duet immediately likeable, The intro to Sunday Afternoon is more interesting than the actual body of the song. The rhythm and mood of the music are certainly the most unique among all the teams this year. (We would expect that from them.) Will be curious to hear how they edit the music, to see how they build an arc out of it, an emotional crescendo--or maybe it will be a completely unexpected construction?
