That was great! I love Mambo! I always admired skaters doing an encore after performing a full program, where do
they get the energy? Uncle Dai looked a little tired thus the silly stumble on his steps. He looked fabulous:love:

Thanks, sayaka! Mambo never fails to get the crowd going! That stsq is a footwork masterclass. Stumble? What stumble? ;) (Skaters like Tessa, Scott, Mao, Caro and Steph had trouble keeping up with Dai's mambo steps during the finale at "Ice Legends". 'Nuff said!)

Dai revealed he'll be attempting a quad at Nationals and watching the NHK Trophy live in the arena has instilled the desire in him to compete internationally again! :yahoo::dbana:

If he is going to try for the World team this season he will have to do a challenge comp to get the minimum TES for Worlds. Maybe he is thinking next season. Thanks for all the links!

Is there anything between now, 4cc, and worlds?

I hope it's ok if I answer? :) I'm guessing 4CC is most likely out of the question, assuming he won't attend anything before Nationals. If he makes the Nats podium and gets selected for the Worlds team, there are a couple of international events abiding by the deadline (21 days before the first official practice day of Worlds) he could attend to get the minimums. I believe Bavarian Open (February 5, 2019 - February 10, 2019) and Challenge Cup (February 21, 2019 - February 24, 2019) are the most well known ones (there are more though).

Thank you! I was just thinking that even if Dai didn't make the world team perhaps 4cc isn't out of the cards if he is trying to compete more than just this season.

Dai was asked if he had any thing between now and Nationals and and he answered no.

The entries of Golden Spin were announced today, and Dai's name is not among them. So, there is no possibility that he will be at 4CC. Sorry, North American fans. :( I really hope JSF will send him to Bavarian Open or Challenge Cup if he finishes on the podium at Nats.

Thanks! I was honestly looking at flights to Cali which are fairly cheap right now. It's probably better for my wallet anyway, making it a bit easier to "adult".

So, Dai might have been medaled at GPS this weekend again. Such a shame he didn't get an international assignment before Nats.

Now, Yuzu injured himself (again) and there is a possibility he might skip Nats. If he skips Nats, it's unlikely he will compete at 4CC, which means more chance for Dai to be selected for 4CC, except he won' t be able to get minimum TES before the 4CC entry deadline. :curse: Stupid JSF.

LOL It is frustrating isn't it. I have resigned myself to JN only (he did say that was his goal) and next season he will be in the full mix again.

Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised, if it was his own decision to do no more since he said he wished to re-enter the competitive arena without fanfare and that his main objective this season is making it into the final group at Nationals. Maybe he could have had the NHK host spot or competed at JO had he expressed his interest. As long as this is the way he prefers it I'm fine with it. On another note, considering that the injury he sustained in summer still bothered him at Kinki and presumably was the reason preventing him from skating at the Rinkai re-opening event as well it was probably for the best he didn’t have to face the (self-imposed) pressure of pushing his body too hard for an international assignment without giving it the opportunity to heal properly first. I’m with demarinis in looking forward to the likely prospect of him doing the GP (and maybe 4CC or Worlds?) next season. Hopefully he’ll be spared further injuries.

If Dai is chosen for Worlds, he will gain enough points and PB and get 2 spots in GPS next season. If he is not, he will get a senior B at best and will not get enough points or PB, which means he will not get a GPS next season.

I'm skeptical that he will be chosen for Worlds even if he finishes after Shoma, though. The criteria for the third spot is very ambiguous, and basically JSF can pick anyone they want, and their priority is on young skaters. I don't think they will give the host spot at NHK Trophy to Dai next season either.
