Alina Zagitova

Not to be rude, but can we leave Evgenia-only related posts for her fan fest? There is plenty of discussion on Zhenya everywhere, but this thread is one of the few places where Alina wholeheartedly celebrated. :ghug:

I just want to reserve this space for Alina :p

Alina will have an amazing GP Final, she made, she fought for it and she is there.

Our Golden Girl!!! A winner already by making it to the table.

I’m sure she is hard at work and focused as ever. She’ll be a joy to watch and we are going to see Lara Croft at that gala.

December is going to be one long Christmas Day!! ❤️🥇❤️🥇

You wish is granted my friend!!

Alina’s right now working hard on her SP, her FS, her EX, her already amazing combos, her spins, her projection and she’ll bring it all. She’ll bring her all in fact.

Her first time competing on North American soil I believe, it is going to be epic.

I need some happy Alina pictures to cheer me up. At least one of my girls safe and secure in the final. Good luck Alina, you can do it!!

That is something I'm afraid more than Rika, to be honest ;)

I see no reason that Alina will be afraid to compete in North America, come true lovers of figure skating, not internet h..ers, figure skaters from Canada and the United States were warmly met in Russia , I hope it will be the same in America

It's not the public itself, just the attitude "in Canada the judges are more strict than anywhere else blah blah". Like I'm not really afraid but just somehow alerted if somebody would not try to show everyone something like "look, I can sunk olympic gold medalist" or something like that.

What will probably happen is that she will have fantastic skates, get big scores, and the "she's so overscored :drama:" cries will continue.
Just another day at the office.

That being said, I believe it is imperative that her jumps be fully rotated.
But that pertains to all the skaters, not just Alina.

Well, this is the first time I'm really looking forward for comments from "overscored" ranks

I am looking forward to hear the entire season these overscored cries, when Alina will continue to win every competition she will take part in. They can bring them on!

Folks, 6 GPs are over and Alina still holds all the WRs :yahoo:, is entering GPF as the top ranked lady :yahoo:, and is preparing with her team the best way to conquer a whole new continent :yahoo:. 11 days until Vancouver! Go Queen Alina! :hap10:

From the twitter account of "Skating Scores"

Thus far this season, Alina has all level 4's in spins and step sequences.

Revisiting this to emphasize: Alina not only has all Level 4's, she is the only skater in men's or ladies to have all Level 4's this season. Alina has popped and underrotated (like every other top lady this season :() but she hasn't fallen, she hasn't panicked, she hasn't lost points she didn't need to lose, and she finishes her skate like a champ.

The point difference between StSq4 and StSq3 is not exactly the difference between 4Lz and 2T, but in a competition, every point counts.

P.S. All those people yelling in their echo chamber about overscored GOE and PCS conveniently leave out Alina's levels. Not that I want them to start on that, but ISU has more objective outlines on what makes a Level 4 spin or step sequence, and that makes it harder for armchair judges to say things like "That jump was tiny, it should not be more than +2." Food for thought?

the only danger I see in Alina's going to Canada is that she needs to have her documents/visa in order! :)
The rest she can handle!

And I am hoping for a spectacular showdown for Alina and Rika, which will bring great skates for both.

The only danger I see in her going to Canada is If she brings Masu. He looks uncontrollable and there are polar bears near there... :) Need to give his leash to Daniil.

This x1000 times!!! Exactly, people are just complaining and complaining about subjective things like music choice, choreo, I don't like how she holds her hand here, I don't like her hair, etc.:handw:

But when we start to analyze every single element: jumps, spins, transitions, step sequence, Alina executes everything perfectly. When we take point by point every component from the PCS score, we'll see Alina's programs are build in such a way that they will meet every single requirement for maximum scores. (how I think we did a couple of weeks ago) And all these things scream one thing: lots of work, lots of dedication, time spent on ice and ambition. It's hard to complain without facts, but Alina will just receive great scores because well...she deserves them.

I will celebrate then she win ) it’s a sport, you can’t relax ,looking back, and stop until the finish line, everything can happen , as today in ski race

Touché, my friend. Let's just say I was expressing a desire, and they say that when you truly believe in something, the entire universe will conspire to make it true. And I will keep the celebrations to take place only after the competitions (here on GS, with this amazing group of people, or together in a bar how we were discussing a couple of months ago )

You could be right about that. So much of the ISU rules are vague.
What is enough "jump height" to earn the magic bullet that helps open the door to +4 or +5?
It doesn't say. So everyone and his cousin argues about it.

Off on a tangent, I disagree about some of the scores for combos.
They just seem to add the 2 solo jump values together.
So a 3Lz-3Lo doesn't score much higher than a 3Lz-3T.
And yet, intuitively I know that it is MUCH harder.
Why? .... Because so few skaters attempt it.

But it is what it is.

And further more - just for argument's sake....
If a skater did a 3Lz and then a 3Lo as 2 solo jumps, the score is exactly the same as a 3Lz-3Lo combo.
Yet a 3-3 combo is infinitely more difficult than 2 solo jump passes.

If I am incorrect in the way I have interpreted the scoring of a combo, please let me know.
