Alina Zagitova

I just came here to say that I watched Alina‘s full runthrough on an Instagram livestream. She looked tired and sleepy and at first I was like: Ouch, she is really affected by jetlag. Well, then she started her program and ... everything was clean. And by everything I mean everything. No UR, no fall, nothing. Solid from beginning to end. If anyone was worried about Alina‘s condition... she is ready. 100%, probably even more than that. If she can nail her program like this when she looks so tired, then I can‘t imagine how she‘ll do it when she‘s warmed up, overcame jetlag and is ready to fight. We just got proof: Alina can do Carmen in her sleep.

Looking at her run through and everything looks so good. There’s such a flow now to Carmen compared to the first time we saw it and her jumps are better than ever. Her quality of her jumps have improved, if that’s even still possible. That second axel was really well executed and she has so much height and ease into the jump. Her LzLo combination was also better than I’ve ever seen it. The way she goes into that second Lo with that quick snap!!

Hoping for a Gold for Alina this GPF, but most of all for her to have a clean skate she’s satisfied with :)

Hello, and welcome! Post long and post often. :)

Most of the posters here are really nice people, but when someone insults or attacks or otherwise tries to brush off Alina we turn into The Angriest Thread [SUP]TM[/SUP]. Please feel free to nudge things back in the direction of peace and happiness when you see that happen. :agree:

Go Alina! :hap10:

Thank you, zenskate :) Yes, I have observed that, and it is scary  when it happens ... but effective.

Sometimes when we stray from our usual decorum, we need a good reminder....

MANNER TEETH!!!!

 Occasionally it seems friendly nips are called for... but even the nips are decorous here.

Welcome, Giltedge! Post long and often! [emoji173][emoji7][emoji7]

Thank you, TheBallerina, and others, for making this a welcoming place. :)

Now, to count down the hours and minutes... :coffee:

Oh. Gosh. How she even can be stronger and stronger jumper, while even more and more smooter dancer with better and better flexibility? She remind me Virtue&Moir, they also does the most insane lift in the field while being far ahead of everybody in artistry. Skaters usually have one side stronger than the other, and that side made them champions. But legends excell in both equally and never sleep, while on the top still the biggest hard workers. Something tells me this young girl is heading right between legends ..

The speend with whom she is improving is incredible .. And you know, improving while you are already on the top of the game is very, very hard ..

BTW jumping 3L3Lo3Lo and maybe also quads training really pay off, cause her 3l3lo combo look ready to kill more then ever before ..

Hi, my dear friends, I am so eager to watch the GPF already... the Vancouver time zone is not optimal for Europe but I will do my best to watch Alina live...

I have 3 exams this Monday I rarely have I been less prepared, I don't know how I will follow the GP and do well, no idea. But I want to keep track on the ladies, at least... Sometimes I wonder why I chose medicine and not sports journalism - I could be like Tatjana Flade, going to the coolest figure skating events instead of stuDYING and trying to keep up with the competitions somehow. :dev2:

And I am so excited for Alina, I am so happy that she did her practice well and hope she will slay at the competition! Today, instead of studying, of course, I was watching videos of her from 2013 and 2014 and thought how adorable and determined she is to succeed... and today she is the leading lady and favourite for the Grand Prix Final, who would have thought?

I just want to hug her and wish her performances she is proud of!

I want people not to forget me and know that the Olympic Games I won is not accidental

People don‘t forget you, Alina, you are already in the history books by winning the Olympics! And you absolutely do not need to prove anything!!!

I doubt those people will ever really shut up. But maybe a gold from the GPF would make them go silent at least for a bit.... Granted, I just want her to do well, regardless of the colour of the medal. And I know we shouldn‘t focus on anybody else other than Alina. But I can already see the “articles“ and “statements“ if she loses. That‘s why I want her to win. Not because I only like her if she wins, not at all, but because I think it‘s important for her. Proving herself she seems to be something she absolutely feels she wants to do. So I hope she succeeds. For her sake.

Looking at the practice video, I‘m confident, though. Like I said, she pulled of Carmen while she looked so tired. If she can do a refined, fierce, strong and technically perfect Carmen in her sleep, she will slay even more during competition! Go, Alina! I will wake up to watch you live and send you all the good vibes I possibly have at 7 a.m.

Not accidental at all Alina!
The level of skating from the top 4 ladies was off the charts.
Something you don't normally see at any competition, never mind the Olympics.

What happened at then end of the interview?
I assume he was asking her about what she listens to?
Does anyone know what?

Oh, I feel you. It‘s figure skating time AND exam time at the moment and those two... don‘t mix very well.
