I want people not to forget me and know that the Olympic Games I won is not accidental

:sad21: This kills me a little bit.
She will never be forgotten. Never. As much as I appreciate her amazing skating and I understand that is what she wants to be remembered for most, it is her strength of character I will never forget. Her reaction to winning the OG. Her moment on the podium. The way she conducted herself afterwards in a situation made unnecessarily awkward by people who really should have known better.
Alina showed a class and grace beyond her years and people three times her age could learn something from her. No matter what she may have felt about what was being said and not being said in her home country she maintained a serenity about it. Her parents get a lot of credit for this as well. I definitely would have had something to say about it if it were my child!
And when Japan decided to shower her with attentions since Russia could not be bothered, she was so poised and gracious. And so appreciative of her fans and their gifts.
I wish Alina all the success possible on the ice, but I will follow her as a fan long after she has stopped competing and look forward to whatever she does and wherever her journey takes her.
Back to happy - I am so grateful to her to helping me find my love of watching skating again. And letting me find this amazing fanfest with all you amazing fans!
