2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

And Serafima with her +202 SB?

That's what I'd like to see but unfortunately Sima doesn't tend to get a lot of love inside Russia, or at least that's what I've seen. Her getting GPs would push Stanislava off the list and I'm not too sure that RusFed would be willing to do that. But we'll see.

It would be cool if they gave the third spot at euros to someone like Sima. Heck let three skaters who aren’t going to WC and have never been there go get some medals for a season

I just found the Junior Grand Prix Final on YouTube and they're showing the ladies and I just saw Kanasheva skate for the first time she's absolutely lovely. She looks blonder and taller than the other girls kind of different. Again I'm watching this on YouTube live. Very interesting competition.

So... not Anya's best day obviously, but with a strong free she can definitely move up.
Alena and Sasha were just incredible, and Alena Kanysheva was magnificent as well! Tarakanova and Shcherbakova struggling but both can fight back on Saturday

so it's Alena first, Sasha second, Alena Kanysheva third, Anastasia fifth, and Anna sixth

I picked it up with. Kanysheva skating and all were a delight to watch. I'm sorry Anna struggled what happened?

Alena deserves to be in the lead but it's a very small lead when you talking about Sasha.

Artistry should be rewarded! It’s not just about the jumps. You need to have the whole package. It’s not figure jumping. I wouldn’t want to see just jumps.

Anna fell on her 2A and stumbled on the 3Lz and so missed the combo :sad4:

Watching that, it breaks my heart to think that she is not ready for seniors next year. And in a twisted way it makes sense. They need to break up the quad girls so Anna can shine next year at juniors.

What a fantastic skate by Kostornaia. She's always been my fave of the junior girls but now I love her even more. Fabtastic:yahoo:

Poor baby. She needs to Let it Loose for the long program.

To be honest, she landed all of her jumps and skated clean but her performance and speed were pretty bad. Dare I say I didn't enjoy her performance at all. There is no way she could get that score at any of the grand prix events. I know she changed tons of coaches and made a lot of progress this season, but I don't think her level is better than the much hated Konstantinova at this moment.

And Serafima with her +202 SB?

Was this the first time the judges went with Kostornaia over Trusova for Components?

EDIT* Upon checking i can see it isn't ;)

I don't think this is indicative of whether she's suitable for seniors. Anna is prone to disaster skates once in a while--her technique is not the most stable thing in the world. I don't think sticking around for an extra year and being expected to carry the Russian juniors is going to do much more for her competitive psyche than being an up-and-comer on the senior circuit. The senior crowding situation is not going to get much better if she waits a year. There will be even more skaters to compete with for international spots, like Kanysheva, who is very solid in all aspects of her skating.

True, the fierce competition for senior spots next year continues. But it might get slightly better? Kanysheva won't be in the running, as she is not eligible for another year.

They will be very tempted to c
keep Anna in juniors again next year. She and Kanysheva will be great juniors next year if Anna stays in juniors.

Let's wait and see. I think it will depend heavily on how she does at nationals and junior worlds. Right now she needs to show that she can consistently skate clean when competing under pressure at the highest level. It would be a real shame for Anna if she is held back while her equally-talented training mates get to spend an extra year building their senior reputations and most likely winning world medals.

After what Kihira has just done today in the SP, it would be a huge mistake to leave Shcherbakova in juniors; nowadays the Russian supremacy in the circuit is in danger, it is one thing to lose a World Cup because you have your best mentally and physically stressed skater; but today you can lose simply because someone jumps harder than you. The 3 of Tutberidze have to urgently up to seniors the next year.

We won’t know with any certainty until after Junior Nats and maybe JWC really. I could see it go either way. RusFed needs to control JGPF too. I won’t be surprised either way TBH but I do think it’s too soon to make any decision on the matter.
